mr.fatgrub Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 hey everyone, i was hopeing that some of you could give me advice on go to baits this time of year for inland lake largemouths here in michigan? thanks Quote
paragon Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I like to throw rattle traps this time of year. I've already taken a few on 1/4 oz shad colored. I also have had some luck with white tube jigs. Good luck Quote
XcoM274 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Man its still slow. I know how you're feeling. Last few days I've had the most luck on a Texas rigged tube dead sticked. We're going very slow on the warmup this year and snow's on the way for Friday. Fish slow, and if you think you're going slow, cut the speed in half. I've been throwing a tube and letting it sit for 1-2 minutes before moving it. They'll pick it up and just sit there with it and its nearly impossible to set but it can be done with practice. Quote
Tetra Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 i've spent the last 3 days fishing my marina on lake st clair. water is kinda brown and i havent caught a single fish yet. had a very big large mouth hit a blue and black jig with a craw trailer. but that's all the action i've seen in about 12 hours of fishing. i'm trying to fish slow but it's so difficult. paragon Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Fish were feeding on the surface on sat. at Kensington on Sat. if you can belaive that. We were on the bank caught two 3 lbers on a rat l trap, my buddy lost a couple real big ones. The fish were jumping all over in one of the many small coves on the lake. It was a great start to the season, and I got to break in my new Revo. Quote
Tetra Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 hahah wow. kensington lake? i drove by there maybe 10 days ago and it was still icy lol Quote
paragon Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 There was still ice on portions of the lake near the marina, closer to the 696 end. It was a crazy thing seeing those fish surfacing, most of them good size. Quote
Tetra Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 wow. well that's good news. i've been fishing my marina on lake st clair. the fishing would probably be better on a smaller inland lake. kensington is by no means small though. Quote
bhorlings Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I hit Battjes Park last Sunday... all I got was three snags that broke me off. That ended up being three tungsten drop shots weights and two hooks. I was dropshotting extremely slow. I actually took about 15 minutes to reel one cast in. It was so painfully slow that I couldn't believe it. Quote
detroit1 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I'm hoping to get out this weekend, so what do i know... but, don't only fish slow, they caught them on ratltraps! Don't be afraid to mix it up is all i'm saying. Quote
