Uncle Leo Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Do any of the central Illinois Bassers have any idea on how the bite has been? I know the Kincaid Station was shut down for a few weeks so I was wondering how the lake temperature was affected. I am thinking for heading down weekend after next. Quote
ventureboat Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Hey uncle, I haven't been there in a few weeks. Last two trips were very tough. Before that, fishing was phenominal. Water level rose, now they're hard to find it seems. I heard the plant was in a 21 day shut down, but I haven't heard when it started or when it ends. Looking forward to more answers if anyone knows for sure!!!! Quote
Lorne Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I went out 3 weeks ago on Mar. 8 for about a hour. Water seemed very cold, didn't get one bite. I was fishing the west arm from shore. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 I fished this lake this past weekend April 5 and 6th. Water temperature was 67 degrees at the beginning of the warm arm. Did not venture up this arm as the water was very murky so did not think the bass would relate to this due to spawn. Worked the bays in the cooler arms 57 - 65 degrees. Averaged about 25 bass a day. A lot of small ones. The larger males were active based on their tails being roughed up. Biggest was maybe 3 lbs. Caught two females that still were not spawned out again roughly 3 lbs. Maybe the bigs ones were in a post spawn pattern but could not pin point that pattern. All were caught in the bays in typical spawninga areas. Could not locate any in pre or post spawn mode. Nothing big but at least the skunk is dead. Two prior trips the skunk was on. Quote
