Perfect Hook Set Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 3 lmb caught in a small area of a pond Quote
fishizzle Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Good job PHS Aren't small ponds rewarding! Did you use your Perfect Hook set? Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 No need to use a hook set on these "big ins" lol After catching those three I of course threw out another cast and for some odd reason my senko went flying off the hook. After that I didn't get a single bite By the way that is a green and white senko Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Hey perfect man, at least you got three fish on one senko. That's awesome when you don't have to waste em' so quickly. Normally they are only good for one or two fish depending on the size. But dang on, those things will catch fish under any conditions. I love GY. Ps: The bait monkey wants to know what kind of lure that is in the second picture lol. I like the coloring on it. And it looks like a slashbait or jerkbait... no? Rapala? Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 The senko was in great condition I caught one off of it !!!MY LAST FISH!!! Yo-Zuri pin minnow sinks very slow COLOR - Gold Flame SIZE 2 3/4" RATTLE - Yes Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Yea I thought that may be it. I had a silver one a while back but found that the casting with it sucked. It's like casting a small original rapala. I use great line for my cranks (suffix elite) and I can cast my mann's and my rat l's a mile. Just didn't like that aspect of the yo zuri. I guess it's more of a reaction type bait where the action is what you pay for? You able to cast it decently? I wonder if a split shot or something by the lip will help... Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 No the casting a good distance isn't good unless you are using light limp line... Quote
xjma99 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Hey, what is the difference between that yo-zuri and say, and original floating rapala? Does it run deeper? You said that is sinks slowly, but I just googled it and it said that it's a floater....which lead me to believe it's basically a rapala from a different company (correct me if I'm wrong). Also, how did you fish the yo-zuri? Hard jerks, crank, pause, repeat in an irregular pattern like you (I) would with a rapala? How about the senko? I just moved to SE MA from western MA for work and my work is right up the street from what is allegedly a great bass pond (Nippenicket). I tried the shore there from about 2-3pm today with no luck. I've been itching to get out and catch some fish!! Last fall when I first got down here I fished the shore a handful of times and every time I'd get pickerell of moderate to decent size on original rapalas and tube jigs (all the gear I had with me when I had just moved). I've read that surface stuff is no good in early spring? /sorry for the hi-jack, I got lotsa Qs! Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 Hey, what is the difference between that yo-zuri and say, and original floating rapala? *More durable *More action when twitched Does it run deeper? You said that is sinks slowly, but I just googled it and it said that it's a floater....which lead me to believe it's basically a rapala from a different company (correct me if I'm wrong). *Oddly enough mine sink though I do not fund the colors I have in the sinking version.... Also, how did you fish the yo-zuri? Hard jerks, crank, pause, repeat in an irregular pattern like you (I) would with a rapala? *I was working it many ways, though when I caught the very small LMB I was reeling average - fast speeds it in and would twitch it randomly How about the senko? *I had casted it out and let it sit for a bit as I was slowly softly twitching it in, is when I got the hit *Try using a senko at Nippenicket I've read that surface stuff is no good in early spring? *That depends on the water temperature which so far this year is cold which is no good for top water *I would try a buzzbait before any other top water *Jerkbaits are great for Pickeral, if you are not catching Bass on them though try a spinnerbait *** The more questions the better, thats how we all learn I caught those bass no more then 15ft from shore Quote
