Bassnajr Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Hey folks.... I know we have some folks coming to LBH's Cast for Kids tournament in April which is great, but I noticed that the Central guys are having there 2nd annual get together tounament. Do the members from the Notheast have a similar tourney? bassnajr Quote
fishizzle Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 There is a Battle on the border between Mass, RI and CT but its not a sleepover There is also a sleepover in PA at lake Mauch or something like that Quote

hjerk24 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Not the worlds greatest place to fish, nice, but trolling motor only. Â Kinda takes away from the 'vroooooom" factor. Â Would like to see a Chesapeake, or Potomac, or Oneida, even better, Champlain Tourney! SWEET!!!!! Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Mauch chunk has some good fish. It is basically somewhere we can go and be guarenteed to catch 10-15 fish. Quote
hjerk24 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Fished there last year hard all day, and believe me, there was not one fish that was weighed in for the tourney. Â We caught fish, but all dinks. Had decent fisherman, as well, an still no one weighed a fish. Â Hear me correctly, nice place to fish, but a weigh in with 8-10 boats with no fish was not too exciting. Â Would make the trip though, to meet up with guys here. Not a hater here, just recollecting a trip that yeilded not many "longer fish" Peace! Quote

That's appreciated, most don't like to tell it like it is but I'm sure Muddy will tell you he's had a couple days there that weren't the easiest. Â Every lake has it's good days and it's bad, keep yourself in good company while you're there and a good time will be had by all. Quote
Zel Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I've fished Mauch Chunk for many years. I would tend to agree with hjerk24 that it is not a lake I would recommend for a tournament. But I believe the deal at Mauch Chunk is more of a get-together, for fellowship, good natured ribbing, and catching a few in-between... not a tournament. It is under the big bass lake program in PA, and the minimum size for keeping bass is 15 (and only a limit of 4), so you tend to catch more in the 10-14 range. Being electric-only, it is a good lake for those with smaller boats powered only with a trolling motor, or even just oars. And I have no problem fishing it with my 18.5ft Fish-n-Ski. On average, I'll catch about 7-10 bass in a 4 hour period, but maybe only one will be over the 15 minimum. And I've found on the days when its tough, and you get skunked, the night bite will be awesome. If you're looking to hold a northeast tournament, go with hjerk24's recommendations, but if you're looking for just a friendly get-together, Mauch Chunk is a pretty good choice (but no alcohol allowed to be consumed in the park). Also, if some want a larger lake (unlimited HP) to tackle while there, Beltzville Lake is only about 15 minutes away. You'll catch more smallmouth there than largemouth, but that lake is feast or famine in my opinion. We locals affectionately refer to it as the Dead Sea. It's also got stripers, walleye, musky, perch, cats, trout, and a few others. Â Â Â Â Â Â Quote

hjerk24 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I hope all caught my "connecting with others" portion of my post. Â Count me in for the tourney. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Yeh I live right next to Beltzville and minutes from Mauch Chunk. I have fished both all my life. At Mauch Chunk the majority are what Zel said 12-14". Beltzville I would say %80 of the fish I catch are keeper size. Beltzville is a very hard lake if you dont know it well. Quote
ZEN BASSIN Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I say we get a tourney going in May for Law enforcement Memorial week either in RI, CT, MA or NH. seeing that it would most likely be the first of its kind around these parts, I think. Quote
Bass Hole Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Great Sacandaga Lake in Folton County N.Y 50 2lb smallies a day. I would be glad to help with it for next year. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 22, 2008 Super User Posted March 22, 2008 Why not Sacandaga in September. 8-) John that is the perfect avatar for you. Â ;D Quote
ZEN BASSIN Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Sounds like we have a mission which involves a road trip? Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Muddy I agree with you 100%. I would also rather put 10-20 fish in the boat in a fun setting. Mauch Chunk is a great time and everyone will have a blast. One piece of advice is have all your legalities in order such as life jackets, lights, and whatever else (the authorities are strict and WILL be watching). Quote
Bass Hole Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Here's some Info you guys might not know about Great Sacandaga Lake. Last years Eastern Divisional was held there and the fishing is unbelievable it would be the absolute best place to have a get together that's not for competition the amount of fish you could catch in a day is almost unbeatable I have been there in July, august and September and the fishing is equally good any of those times, Just for you to compare here are all the divisions from 2007 so you can judge for you self's In order of weight for the division Eastern 72 Anglers 2023.56 1st place team 363 last place team 301 Southern 84 Anglers 1337.56 1st place team 243.12 Mid Atlantic 84 Anglers 1219.92 1st place team 254.01 Northern 84 anglers 1015.29 1st place team 201.05 Central 96 Anglers 910.69 1st place team 173.15 the only thing about September is that the water level is low. But it dosen't effect the fishing. Quote
Bass Hole Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I was not trying to plan a competition I thought you guys were looking for a good place were everyone would catch a ton of fish. Not trying to rain on your parade. I must be to new to give input on this board Sorry. I'll say no more  :-X Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 NO YOU SHOULD HAVE READ THE ORIGINAL THREAD, THIS HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS SINCE THE END OF LAST YEAR. NOW HERE IS AN INTERESTING QUESTION, WHY WOULD A GATHERING OF THE GUYS WHO LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA BE SOMEWHERE IN UPSTATE NEW YORK???? Quote
Bass Hole Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 NO YOU SHOULD HAVE READ THE ORIGINAL THREAD, THIS HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS SINCE THE END OF LAST YEAR. NOW HERE IS AN INTERESTING QUESTION, WHY WOULD A GATHERING OF THE GUYS WHO LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA BE SOMEWHERE IN UPSTATE NEW YORK???? First of all I posted in a tread called Bassresource Northeast tournament...has it been done before?? Not Bassresource Pennsylvania  tournament...has it been done before?? That being said Judging buy your use of all caps it seams you are upset we'll thats your problem I was just giving another option on a good place to fish. Now allow me to answer your question with another. Why would a gathering of guys who live in  the northeast be held in pennsylvania on a 330 acre pond were thy might not even catch fish and can't even crack a cold one? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 oh chill, both of you, just a dumb mis communication. Â The Pa event is somewhat local, not really a Northeast (which would imply representation from all NE states) Â So, the RI get together BH is thinking about is kind of the same thing, local. So drop it and move on ladies (I know you both well enough to say that, lol) Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 23, 2008 Super User Posted March 23, 2008 We could always settle this the old fashion way, RI vs. PA.... I think the Hudson is considered neutral turf. ;D Quote
Bass Hole Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I hope you all have a good time at your get together good luck with it. Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Candlewood Lake Smallmouth Largemouth and plenty of spots for people to catch 'em I say we get a tourney going in May for Law enforcement Memorial week either in RI, CT, MA or NH. seeing that it would most likely be the first of its kind around these parts, I think. I vote CT Quote
