Hey guys,

I have lived in Boston the last 6 years and know the area pretty well, but this weekend i am going back to New Haven CT to visit the fam and thought i might do some fishing.  Any guys in that area know some good local ponds where the fish are bitting?

If you don't mind paying $25 for a permit from the Regional Water Authority (rwater.com), you can fish the Maltby Lakes, Lake Chamberlain, and Lake Saltonstall. They are not open yet for fishing, but I have had really good luck at both Maltby and Saltonstall. The Branford supply pond, Lake Wintergreen, and the Ansonia Reservior are other good ones not far from New Haven.

I wanted to go to the Maltby lakes, but they are not open yet as you mentioned.  I actually went to Lake Wintergreen, no luck but should be a good spot for the future.  Thanks guys!
