Has anyone fished Piney Run?  I am thinking about fishing a tournament here at the end of March.  What is the lake like? Any structure or boat docks?

There is not a whole lot of structure there to speak of.  There are boat docks at the launch ramp, but that is usually overcome by people fishing from them.  Its not very rocky....there is a dam w/ riprap.

Thanks MarVaBC. I know that last years tournament was won with just a single fish. I hope to enter and do well in the tournament.  Is it a deep lake?  What is the bottom like?

Did they change their format? I fished there several years ago in a tournament but it was a big bass format tourament. From what I remember, MarVaBC is right about there not being much structure but later in the year there is plenty of grass to fish. Good luck if you fish it!

I have only fished there once last summer and there was nothing but grass! The lake does have a lot of small yellow perch that I suspect is a large food source for bass so I would digout my perch colored baits. From the launch ramp straight across is a bank that has a steep drop off that maybe good. The main place I would try is to the right at the riprap and the small cove to the left of the riprap.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  I need to get more info on the actual tournament now.  The Assistant Service Manager at Fitzgerald Toyota told me about this tournament, he fishes it each year and said I should fish it.
