If there is anywhere I can go fishing tomorrow where there is no ice, would someone please let me know? Might take the boat out, but thats only if theres no ice. Anywhere in MA, CT, RI, VT, NH is fine. Just really, need to cure this itch. :)

I know of at least one place though no boats are allowed.

I fished the pond 2 days so far with no luck

What we tried

Senko 3in-5in

Senko worm 5in

Wiggle wart

Some different size/color suspended and floating minnows

Rooster tail

Spinner baits

The odd thing is, we had seen 1in minnows on shore pretty much all of the way around the pond..

We also seen bigger minnows swimming near the surface further out in the pond...

South Western CT

I would be glad to take you to some better spots when/if I find if they are open or not

Actually I totally forgot about the CT river. Maybe I'll ask my dad if he wants to head down there tomorrow and see if we can catch some pike since the bass fishin won't be great.

Man, I hear ya. I picked up some new stuff I can't wait to try out. The river looked pretty good today although it was a bit muddy and on the high side. No chunks of ice that I could see coming down the river. I think it's still too early for any lumber, which is a good thing if you're taking the boat out. I've heard of some guys losing their boat to logs catching anchor lines coming downstream in the early spring. Where do you go for Pike? I usually go up by the oxbow... good smallies up there too.

Actually I haven't fished this river in so long that I forgot where the last time we went was. Never tried the oxbow, that I remember. LOL I don't where to go for pike. I figured we'd just find a spot onshore and cast some jointed plugs against the current and work them back to us at a gradual pace, in search of a monster.

You definitely should try the CT. River this time of the year. Most launches right now are wide open. The water is a bit high and dirty, but do-able. Find some deep holes above dams, where the smallmouth are wintering. Use blade baits. You'll connect.

I tried my local river today, in hopes of maybe catching a trout or pickerel or anything with fins.  It was 45 degrees today and the air felt like Spring, sadly the river was up higher than I've ever seen it and the current was blasting through so strong it was impossible to do anything.I left after about 10 minutes (I fought the current for a little bit and pretended it was a fish, then some guy drove by and gave me a weird look). First skunk of the year!

Nothing but hard water here dude. A few hundred yards of the Souhegan has opened and closed several times but it's been too cold out to want to do anything with it. Gonna pick up my license sometime next week so come ice out I'm ready to roll. Good luck!
