Bassnajr Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Hey folks.... Does anyone know the TRUE story behind the Rhode Island record LMB? I know it's 10 lbs. and change, and I've heard that it was caught on opening day of trout season on a MEAL WORM at Carbunkle Pond. I find this hard to believe.... Anyone know more??? ajr Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Hmmm. I used to fish a ton at Carbuncle when I was young. Close to my parents house. Place is fishy for sure..... Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 That's the truth. Why so hard to believe? That fish OWNED that pond and all the free, high protein, trout the state would throw in there for her Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Every year they do a big spread in the Projo about opening day. You'd think that would have made the paper, no?? ajr Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 It was broken a few yrs back. The record before that was 10.2, also caught on opening day in trout waters. Those Cali guys ain't dumb Have I gotten those gears in your head turning yet? These RI bass that live in trout stocked waters are conditioned to know that any day now, trout are going to start pouring in here. What a great way to start your yr, to have your pond flooded with trout. High protein meals that build some good fat so there's plenty of energy for a strong, healthy spawn. THEM'S BREEDER FISH BOY!! Be prepared for some funny looks from the Orvis carrying, wader wearing, fly fisherman when you stand next to him with a 15" rubber trout on a 7 ft heavy rod I love opening day. Quote
granadethrow Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 oh, so thats why i always fish this small back up reservior that gets one of it's tributarys stocked with hundreds of hundreds of trout 3-9 inches in length in the spring and always catch bass 2-7 sometimes 8 lbs all fat on trout. However, the extremely northern pike and muskie (only rare for central massachusetts) ravenge the all the trout within two months but get really really big. I'm talking about 4-6 year old bass being 6lb plus Quote
