Just wanted to say hello.  I registered here a long time ago, but haven't posted in quite some time (something like 3 years ago... :-[).  I'm from western mass... any local guys/gals?  Got a bad case of cabin fever since I don't really spend any time on the ice.  Really can't wait for the thawout.  :)

central mass here. been counting down the days till march 22, organizing, re-organizing, then re-re-organizing all my tackle and just buying as much gear as i can over these long cold months.

big ice derby this saturday, all public waters in central mass are open for the tourney as long as you get your catch to a weigh-in station before the end of the tourney. plus they draw a name every 5 minutes for cash prizes throughout the whole day. should be good times.

Ha!  That's funny.  I do that every winter.  Organizing, then re-organizing.  And... repeat, until the thawout.  I know, I am kind of a gear junkie myself.  Not as crazy as some of the other guys on here though from what I read, but I guess we probably all are.  Where abouts in central mass are you from?  I am from the Springfield area; I live here in Holyoke.  There's a handful of pretty good places to fish out your way.

i live in west brookfield right now, it's pretty much central to both worcester and springfield. there's a lot of good lakes and ponds out this way and out in the spencer/leicester area, as well as north of me in the rutland/oakham area. i'm shore-bound so unfortunately i'm limited to the areas i can fish, but i've found a few decent spots this past season.

Cool to see some local guys.  I bet you're all as anxious as I am for the ice to go away.  Any of you guys spend a little time shad fishing during the run in the spring?

I usually manage to put some time in on both the shad and stripers every spring.

Very cool.  Same here.  Those shad are a lot of fun!  But, I just don't get that same rush as I do with a 7lb. LM at the end of the line... or a 4 lb. SM.   :)
