Perfect Hook Set Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 The weather in the north especially in Connecticut has been shifting back and forth for weeks now. After a couple of recent rain storms some waters have since lost a lot of its ice. This weeks cold weather has been freezing those open waters yet again From this up coming Saturday - next Saturday the temperatures range from 40-55 degrees for the highs and 30-35 degrees for lows. If some of the waters open back up even for just this up coming week: How will the large mouth react What lure/bait should I try Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 Welcome aboard! We have several members in the region that should be by shortly with some ideas. Good luck! Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Welcome! I live in Rhode Island and it's supposed to be, like -11 degrees over the next couple of days. I know what you mean though. I have gone by a few smaller local ponds with some open spots when it's been 50 degrees lately and wondered ??? It's winter, we're stuck with it!!! I've been reading some of the threads the guys here have posted. They've gone out and gotten skunked!! THINK SPRING!! bassnajr Quote
dale Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 till March....Click http://www.southwest.com/ I hope you get the idea...lol Dale Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 If you're lucky enough to be able to launch, and also have a lake that has open water over areas that hold winter bass, you can't go wrong with a jig. But your best bet is to wait until spring and in the meantime, fish streams for trout. The trout are biting hard, and it's a good way to get your fix until ice-out. There's plenty of good trout fishing in CT Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Ah this on and off "warm" weather has been messing with my mind LoL Spring feels to far away and with every other week being warm/seeing openings on local lakes and ponds I have been going crazy... Thanks every one especially dale :-? :'( Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I'm with Tony. Sit a jig on the bottom or go wade some streams. NATHAN_JAMES, a RI member, KILLED em 2 weeks ago going hole hopping. I got 2 nice rainbows for the table from him. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 3, 2008 Super User Posted January 3, 2008 Rat-l-traps, small suspending jerkbaits, or a 1/4 jig for bass, use trout as a last resort lol. Quote
