Coffeen Winter Tournaments

Is anybody planning on fishing the winter tourneys at Coffeen Lake this year? Just curious.

Harshman mentioned to me that he heard a rumor that they might cancel the series because of the low water levels.  I have been meaning to tell you this.  Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks J. I told him that the night before. But I didn't say it was a rumor. I just mentioned it as a possibility. I don't know nuttin bout nuttin! They did fish the BWS last week so I am sure it is on.

Last I heard the lake is still 7+ feet low.  Boats are still launching and people are still catching fish.  I'd be willing to bet 30-40 boats for Saturday and likely over 50 on Sunday.

BWS tourney last weekend took only 12.08 to win. Are you fishing any this year Dink?

I may fish a few of the tournaments but it looks like a few are on the same weekend that i have my son.... one more reason to hate X Wifes...!! hope we get some rain this year! >

I have the same problem. I'm pretty sure I will be fishing them starting in 3 weeks. I like them because they keep you fishing throughout the winter. To me that is huge. I don't care if I win or not, because the odds are really stacked against me, but you never know.

How ya doing Dink? Anyone else fish Coffeen yet?

It looks like I might fish the Dec 8th and/or 9th tourney. I haven't needed Coffeen yet because it has been pretty warm and the local water temps have been in the 50's. However this last cold spell might have pushed the bass closer to wintering. I might go out on the 8th to a lake here in town and check the temps, then fish Sunday the 9th at Coffeen. Not sure yet.

Each circuit (Sat. and Sun.) has had 3 tournies so far.  Winning weights have not even hit 17 lbs. yet.  Coffeen is being a real tough cookie lately.  I have fished four tournies so far, two on Sat. and two on Sun.  I had to miss the ones last weekend due to work.  The four that I have fished, I have caught and weighed in all of them, but both my partners blanked on all of them.  I'm a little guy to be carrying people around like that. ;D ;D ;D  I have been fishing spots that I didn't fish much the past couple years.  Versatility and a very open mind seem to be key this year.  Hope to see ya out there for the next round.  Good luck.
