HookSetDon Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well most of the available reading and information on the net is typically geared towards lakes in the USA and its season for fishing. Here in Ontario, bass doesnt open until the last weekend of June, temperature here can range from 64-78 degrees, not consitently however, but for weeks at a time sometimes. Bass are typically spawning around 60 degrees, so depending on how the spring temperatures are here the bass can be finished their spawn a month before season open. What would your tactics for the open of our Ontario bass season? Quote
Crankhead Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 We go on a trip to western Ontario every year...and opening day for bass fishing is always the 3rd Saturday of May...this year it's the 21st. And we're always told...depending on ice out...spawning usually starts 1s week of June. I hope this helps you. Quote

The fishing season is different than the southern area of the province. This has been the case for a very long time. We simply don't get to enjoy many bass fishing opportunities in Southern Ontario until season opens in late June. However, if you live close to Toronto you can travel to NY State for some bass fishing fun. Many Ontario anglers travel to NY for their Catch&Release season. Great way to the spring months waiting for season to open in Ontario. What lakes are your normally fishing when season opens? I may be able to help point you in the direction of some local patterns.
