Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Super User Posted February 28, 2008 For me it will be the shaky head and then the spoons fished deep. Not necessarily in that order. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 28, 2008 Super User Posted February 28, 2008 Buzz baits and topwaters. I hardly ever use them. Quote
Davis Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Cranks and Jigs...... Was a big worm/stick bait guy last year. Along with flukes. I want to get better at the hard bodied lures. Quote
Shadcranker Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Definitely the big flutter spoon on our TVA Lakes and to learn swimbaits. My goal this year is to target big fish all year. I tend to sucked into the numbers game, catching 20-30 fish per day. I need to learn to leave those fish and try to catch 5-10 good ones each time out. Plan to do it is to get off-shore more, slow down, and fish big fish baits more. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 28, 2008 Super User Posted February 28, 2008 Dropshot for me, and maybe shakyhead. Falcon Quote
GobbleDog Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I've wanted to get better at spinner baits for several years now.... maybe next year. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I need to work on deep cranking and fishing swimbaits. Quote
utahbasser Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 i want to get better at shaky head and jerkbatis too if i din't say that already Quote
guitarkid Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 the same cliche, cranks, traps, finesse, and jigs. Quote
LAbail Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Well I want to get better at all the baits I throw I know I haven't mastered any so My as well do that.. Read my depth finder and maps better so I can make decisions about where to go and what not. I also want to work on my consistency which is getting better I believe. This year for me is my first year to seriously bass fish. I've fished all my life but this year is time for me to really dive in.. I cant wait to get the hang of Jigs, top water, lipless cranks, cranks, and all plastics oh yea and spinner baits just about every thing ;D last two trips i've been working on Buzzbaits and spinner baits and they both produced well and i have confidence in both. Senko has always produced so thats another that i just wanna get better and more consistent with. This site has helped so much with all the info on here its awesome. So for 08 its full speed ahead for me in all aspects of fishing I know it'll take longer than just a year but I am looking forward to it Quote
garry77 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 For me jigs and carolina rig. Also would like to fine tune my lipless crank and topwater fishing.I've also been making myself go out on the colder and windier days to get more time on the water. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted February 29, 2008 Super User Posted February 29, 2008 Heres a change of pace: NO NEW BAITS! I just want to get better with the ones I have. Which when we are talking big baits, is way, way more than I need, LOL! Quote
SV1000 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I am on a small, 55 ac private lake and the bass fishing just died in July/August last year. I fished mostly topwater and I guess the fish moved out of the shallows which is 80% of the lake. This year I plan to find the fish using jigs or plastics, my least favorite type of fishing because the pace is so slow. I've switched to braid and I really like the lack of stretch, sensitivity and strength and this might help my deep water fishing. So I would say jigs and plastics will be my focus this year. Quote
