No kidding, That lake used to be the best.  I work in insurance, and i drove out to paola to meet a new client once, he lived in an apt there. While we were doing paperwork I saw fishing poles in the corner so asked him about fishing.  He proceeded to show me "master angler awards"  that his son has achieved.  One was a 23 inch Largemouth from MI CO, caught on a live sunfish.  He told me it tasted great... I wanted to throw up.

On a side note, I am thinking about a foot controlled transom mount trolling motor for my pond hopper.  I found one at cabelas, was wondering if anyone has used these and think it would be worth it.

OR should i just save my money to buy a bigger boat?  i have like $200 worth of CC points at cabelas.  So it kind of caught my eye.

What do yall think?

Oh my that would have been perfect for my bass raider!!! What I wouldn't have given as a teenager to have something like that.

I Would love a TM like that for my bass raider, my hand controlled one drives me crazy. That one looks pretty expensive though. I have plans to make a homemade "conversion kit" for my TM. If it works I'll post it here and the Bass Raider thread in the Bass boats section of the forum.

A friend of mine works in Marine at Cabela's, I talked to him about that motor when I bought my jonboat. I guess it gets pretty poor reviews and has a tendancy to break or give up if you hit anything or use it very often.

Jon and I made the trip to Wolf Creek today hoping to get in on a good smallmouth bite. The wind picked up pretty fast and I was surprised we didn't get paged off when it started white capping really bad. I had a hard time hooking anything at first while Jon was catching fish on a spinnerbait and tube pretty well.

One area was way better than others and a spinnerbait, tube, and shakyhead accounted for a vast majority of our fish. We never caught them real fast but it stayed fairly steady most of the day.

I had the biggest one of the day with a 3.28lb 19 inch smallmouth

We left a little early so we could fish another lake on the way home. Every fish we caught was very stocky and as hard of fighting bass as I've ever caught. A homemade chatterbait, homemade jig, or flipping tube caught all our fish there. My first fish on the tube was a super chunk!

A little bit later I got thumped and my line went screaming off. After not jumping, ripping a lot of drag, and just pulling way harder than a bass is supposed to I was sure it was a catfish. I didn't have my scale with me but I'm guessing she was around 6 pounds and super fat.

I looked on there online reviews and they all complained about how short the shaft was.  But that's good to hear,  I have always been a minn kota guy, so not sure how i feel about getting a MG.  I might go look at it tonight.

Anyone out last weekend?

I hit up Melvern for the first time in a couple months.  Fishing was slow to see the least.  Caught one good smallmouth shallow on a secondary point and another decent one off the dam, but other then a few other dinks and whites fishing was slow.  There was a lot more fisherman then I've seen at one time there on Saturday.  Anyone else there on Saturday?  Not sure if the fish are going deeper now or if it was just a bad day to be out...  Water temp was 56-58.

Anyone planning on going out there next weekend?

Thanks!!! Might have to get a couple more.

You should, they're great baits at full price, let alone on sale.

I actually like that one allot! It's older than what I want but the motor is perfect! I love the look of the Mercs on Bullets.

This one is further away and probably out of my price range but it looks like a great package.

Fellow KC'ers I apologize for being a lurker, but lurker no more. SuperFluke I promise I've never even considered fishing anyone's hot spot based on someone's pic, or what someone wrote.

Hope to see you all on the water some time or another

Hi Salenity, I seen on the members map, (that won't let me pin my location) that you live over by OZ. Do you know the Taylor's on John Brown?

This one will also break 100mph and it has a "potty seat" (probably to clean up after going 100+

I don't think so. You know that pond is full of bass, and Mike's younger brother now owns a real nice bass pond at 169 & 68 highway. It's the one on the north side of 68 and west of 169.

Is it about half covered with pads? My buddy owned the big pond across from it. He always told me about catching 8+# bass but it pretty much went years without getting fished and now no one catches anything but dinks.
