Nice. From what little research I can do at work, Wellington City Lake is closed off to boating due to ramps being unusable. Im gonna call to see if I can launch my yak. Reports of some good size Hybrids there.

Well the bass have finally starting to bite in my pond. Went up there about 7:15 last night, caught one on a spinner as soon as it hit the water and the rest I caught on a pit boss running it top water. Everyone I know that fishes ponds, the bite really started popping this weekend. Time to hit the honey holes.. I am hoping to take the new boat out Wednesday for a test drive if I get rained out working. Parts were suppose to be in yesterday so they should have her done today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it just needs the high pressure fuel pump and not the low pressure one as well. The boat was sitting in storage for 7 years, so the fuel gummed up the fuel pumps. Also my neighbor is selling his 2003 skeeter zx250, 21 foot, 101lb 36 volt minn Kota, lowrance electronics, jack plate, Yamaha 250, so if you know anyone looking hes got a good price on it.

so far caught 13 bass at my pond one at 3.5 and one at 3 I also hooked into something huge at least 10 pounds cause it broke my 12 pound braided line so I came home to take a break and I will fill you in on the second half later im taking chris soon. oh and its a ten to twelve acre pond need a boat to fish it.

Fished Gardner from 9-12 today after I got off work. Caught a ton of fish, probably 30-40, I doubt one of them would have gone 15" and most didn't even go 10". Jerkbaits, rattle traps, and a shallow running crankbait were about all I needed. Water was pretty stained, more than I would have guessed it would be. 56 at the dam, 53.5 at the south end. Best water temp seemed to be around 54 for some reason, about 2/3 of the way down the lake. Probably was more the water color than the temp.

so the second half went well also not as many fish caught but some quality ones and one walleye I think someone threw in there last year but I did catch this five pounder which is a pond best I think the expression on my face says it all

Grab it dont let it get away is all I heard for 60 seconds when he set the hook and brought it to the boat! Once I grabbed it I looked at him and said you can breath now

Sizzle and I went to La Cygne for awhile today to prefish for a tournament I'm fishing in out there Saturday. It sucked as bad as I figured it would. On a side note, if you ever wanted to catch a big gar you need to get to the outlet out there now! They were stacked in there. Other than the outlet we didn't see a single shad flip the whole time we were out there. Ran way back in the river, it was cold and super dirty and just no signs of life. Only bite either of us had was on a shakyhead and it jumped and came off before it got to the boat. I got tired of it so we drove down to Ft.Scott, which was way dirtier than I've ever seen it. After fishing across the dam and only having one bite on a jig I was ready to go but decided to drive down lake a little further and try something different. Got on some shallow docks and started tossing a spinnerbait and started getting hit pretty steady. Never got any very big ones minus one Sean had that was probably close to 18", but we did end up with probably 25-30 between us plus one white bass. Didn't want to leave because we'd just started getting them good again after a little dry spell but at least we got on some before the end of the day.

What has this cold blast done to a lake like Fort Scott?

Blue what was the water temp at the outlet? Were they just running water or was it warm water?

Heading for the Ozarks tomorrow morning. Going to try to snag some spoonbill. This will be my first time fishing for spoonbill. Anybody ever fished for spoonbill? Just wondering if it is exciting or if I am going to be staring at the bank wishing I brought my bass boat lol.

I went to Melvern with CBass and another guy from work today and fought the wind. Water temps were from 46-49, wind was from squal to hurricane. Couldn't fish much because of the wind and the water temps weren't very encouraging. Fished around the boat ramp and the cove straight across with nothing. Went down lake a bit and fished the north side but the wind still sucked. I had something hooked on a jigging spoon for a second but it popped off. We ran to the back of one of the big coves on the north side and pulled into a rocky pocket with high banks that was out of the wind with warmer water and a little stain. One of my first cast with a wart hog got stopped while I was crawling it over the rocks by a 3.12lb smallie.

Shortly after that Cbass got a healthy largemouth on a shakyhead.

Chris caught a 3.02 smallie on a RCX jerkbait

Cbass got broke off by a fish and then got another largemouth in almost the exact same spot the second time around the pocket.

And I got a 3.28lb smallmouth on a 97MR slender pointer

Cbass got a really nice white and I got one of the biggest spotted bass I've caught from Melvern, both on jerks, but no pictures of either. We had to leave early because the steering cable snapped in Cbass' trolling motor or I'm sure we would have added more. It was better than I thought it would be with those cold temps. Just a couple degrees warmer and it should have been great.

I'm still annoyed about that fish breaking me off on the trolling motor. Started coming at me after setting the hook and as I finally caught up to him he made a run back under the boat.... it felt like a nice fish

Fished a tournament at La Cygne today, wow it sucked. Neither Chris or I had a for sure bite until I caught my first 12 incher a little after 10:30. I had one close one that looked like a keeper when it first jumped but it went about 17 3/4. Only had 5 total, all on a spinnerbait . One team had 2 keepers and a little over 6lbs, another boat had 1 for 3 something, that was it.

Melvern sucked today.  I am sick of wind already for 2013.  Ended up with 1 in the boat and maybe 4 bites.

 

A side stroy .... I was fishing down a rocky line and this boat came up from behind me a lot faster than I was going.  It was clear to me that he was going to go around me.  Not something I or just about anyone else would do, but whatever.  I am not fishing for money and I don't own the lake.  As he was going around me I acknowledged him and thought to myself d**n he is cutting it close ...... and then proceeds to run into my boat.  W  T  F  !!!
