pocd Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 If you ever need help Bluebasser and I are always up for some new water!! Should try to make that happen sometime.I see that Bluebasser lives in Shawnee...that's where I lived for almost 30 years. while I do live on a private lake, I have been fishing small public waters for the past 2 years and doing a blog for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. That blog has now been converted to my own private blog. Goal? Help more weekend fisherman catch more fish and to convince people to utilize those small lakes close to home...some of which we drive by everyday going to work. You will note in the bio' that I fished 35 tournaments a year for 7 years and twice represented Kansas on their BASS Federation Team. Thanks for allowing me to post with you...! Quote

pocd Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Welcome aboard! We have a good group of folks on here! We did a paper tourny on Melvern back in June and it was a blast!! Thanks for the "Welcome". This is the first ever "forum" I have ever participated in. Will try not to break any rules. If I do...be nice the first time...LOL Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 19, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 19, 2012 Yeah we do have a very good group of guys on this forum. I can say from our Melvern get together everyone here is very willing to share info and gets along well. I think it helps that nobody here seems to have an ego or anything to prove, just all here to help each other out and have a good time. We all fish the local lakes, including the small local lakes, quite a bit. There's a very good rules page and FAQ page that the moderators have included. I'd suggest looking over those to help you keep on the straight and narrow path. Welcome to the forum! Quote
pbrussell Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Dont exclude the rest of us ks guys Christ. I live in shawnee too Quote
retro basser Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Trailer problems suck! I've spun a bearing on the road twice and ruined an axle one of those times. Axel Grease?!? As many miles as you drive chasin bass? If you ever need help Bluebasser and I are always up for some new water!! You use those great video skills on a trip with these guys... They won't let you down... trust me.. Thanks for the "Welcome". This is the first ever "forum" I have ever participated in. Will try not to break any rules. If I do...be nice the first time...LOL I've never read the rules... don't worry. Just don't be a Jerk. Quote
pocd Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 I agree...not many things worse than having trailer problems...usually happens at the worst possible time too...although, come to think about it, there really isn't a "good" time. Hey retro basser...who has the "great video skills"? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 21, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 21, 2012 It was actually 3 times now that I think about it, once with my old johnboat and twice with the boat I have now. I lost the dust cover off my johnboat trailer and a small rock got into the axle and wrecked the bearing. First time with my boat I have now was because I hadn't regreased the bearings in a long time. Second time was because Wal-Mart sold me the wrong tires. Each time sucked real bad. Quote
joefish Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Scheduled my trailer repair for next Friday 7/27. That will be two weeks out of commission. Oh well, it's going to be really hot until then anyway. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 21, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 21, 2012 I'm sending 2 of my main reels to get serviced while it's reel hot again. Get them ready to roll for when it starts to cool down and the fish start biting again. Hopefully it will work out the same way with your trailer. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted July 22, 2012 Super User Posted July 22, 2012 Just wanted to post some pics of all the fish i've got lately... Quote
kylek Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Got this one this morning on a 10" motoroil colored powerbait worm. The scale read 4.7lbs but I think it is off a little. I think it was more in the 3lb class. Quote
kylek Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Sorry for the small picture. I am struggling to get it to post correctly. Quote

I've heard they're starting to release water upstream of us so I may be on the river looking for another big catfish. I finally broke down and bought a 100lb scale so maybe this time I could actually get a weight on them. Either that or I may go punish myself at Wyco. My new little honeyhole has been great for the numbers of solid 15-18 inch fish but I don't want to beat it up too bad, not yet anyways. Quote
kylek Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I caught it at Watkins Mill State Park. Was in about 10' of water buried in some nasty type of grass. Other than that one we caught a few small ones and that was it. Quote
kylek Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 That is a little better. Still trying to get the hang of posting pictures here. This one made it look a lot bigger!!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 22, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 22, 2012 I keep thinking about making the drive up there but haven't gotten around to it. My buddy keeps telling me it's not any good but I keep seeing pictures and hearing reports that say otherwise. Quote
Chris S Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 .Hey retro basser...who has the "great video skills"? I am guessing he checked out your website! Quote
Chris S Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Took my son out to Cedar Creek Sunday in the 100 degree temp because he was driving me nuts to go fishing. He lasted all of two hours and we left with with two dinks from the dam area caught on 1/8 oz shake head. I looked at Jake in the back seat of the truck and said next time i tell you its to hot to go fishing are you gonna listen?? I hear YES DAD!!!!!! Quote
retro basser Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Hey retro basser...who has the "great video skills"? You! I have no idea how you manage to fish, film and keep the picture steady in a little aluminum boat... That's some multi-tasking right there... Got this one this morning on a 10" motoroil colored powerbait worm. The scale read 4.7lbs but I think it is off a little. I think it was more in the 3lb class. Hey, ummmm, where'd you buy that scale at? I'm thinking I need one of those... Good fish! 1 Quote

Jake sounds like he's ready to get his own account on here! Took my daughter out Saturday evening and they were biting pretty good actually... I think she could have got her first fish from casting a jig but she's doing good to stick with it for 5 casts much less 2 hours! 1 Quote

The "Fishing Tips" videos on the web site were/are easy...but the ones on the blog are a whole nother deal since I'm casting at the same time. Wish my videos would make my fish look as big as kylek's scale does...lol. 1 Quote
