SuperVehicle001 Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 If the wind is too much at La Cygne is there still a chance to catch some largies from the bank near the outlet? I'll bring my kayak but I'm not launching if there is too much wind. The forecast has been all over the place! Quote

I've caught 1 largemouth at the outlet the last 3 trips but it was almost 6 pounds. Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Headed out to Wolf on Saturday, 3rd boat on the water at 10am. Only one ramp was free of ice when we launched and I'm glad no one was behind us since the boat was frozen to the trailer and took a while to break loose. Fishing was pretty good, got my first green fish on a buzzbait for the new year, also got an 18# blue on a jerkbait which took me for a ride up and down the wall. Ice fishing has also been good, hit up a local pond and did well with gills and a few bass. You should be able to get a limit of trout pretty easily in Lawrence right now with artificial or live bait. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2018 Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2018 Anyone looking for a way to pass some time while it's cold out, Mondo Tackle just opened a new store in Shawnee at 6442 Vista Dr, about a mile west of 435 and Shawnee Mission Pkwy. Quote
SuperFluke Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Did they close the old one or just open another location? Quote

What is the ice situation on Lacygne? Can you launch OK? Any reports water temps or else Wolf a better option at this point? Thanks! Quote

Wolf was closed for over a week because of the ice, but they'll both be fine this weekend other than they'll be jam packed with boats and neither fishes well when the weather is nice during the winter. Well I was wrong, there's 2-3 inches of ice on the ramp at La Cygne and it's basically frozen from the ramp cove south and clear across the lake. 1 Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Boat show at Wolf tomorrow! Be careful launching the water is still way down. 1 Quote

SuperVehicle001 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Skunked at La Cygne today. Ramps had enough boat traffic to break up the ice and allow me to launch my kayak. I had no choice but to go on a weekend. My kayaking buddy was available so we went. It was brutal so many boats. Not a bite. Quote

I know a lot of guys that were there yesterday and saw 1 picture of a 12" fish. Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 We were at La Cygne on Saturday and there were over a dozen boat out when we launched around 7:30. The main wall was packed so we fished a few other spots to avoid the crowds. Ended up with 2 bass about #2 each both on jerkbaits. Fish weren't interested in any of the plastics we tried dragging. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 24, 2018 Global Moderator Posted January 24, 2018 La Cygne was tough Monday, 6 bites, 2 fish, both little. Wolf was good yesterday, tons of wipers, quite a few whites, lots of largemouth, a few smallmouth, a channel cat, a flathead, and NO DRUM!! 2 Quote
Russ E Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Nice. Fishing a Kansas reservoir with no drum, just doesn't seem right. Was it hard to launch the bass boat with the low water? Quote

My boat sits low on the trailer and I had to back in until my back bumper was almost touching the water. 1 1 Quote
SuperVehicle001 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 I chipped to the top guide of my rod. What are some good places to get repairs done around here? Google is not being very helpful. Quote

Just heat up the last guide with a lighter for a couple seconds (you don't need much heat) and it will pull off. You can also get generic replacements from BPS if you are desperate but they generally suck and are expensive since your are buying a multi pack. Quote

I've had Ryan from 'Ryan's custom rod shop'/ 'Smooth Reels' out of north KC work on some reels for me before. I usually do my own rod repairs, but if you're looking for an established local guy doing any sort of rod and reel maintenance- Ryan is pretty good. Good Luck, -Jared Quote
