Super User Hi Salenity Posted June 12, 2012 Super User Posted June 12, 2012 Hey Chris, how's that finger? It was GREAT to meet everyone and fish the wind. We did Ok, but our biggun was only a 15'' White. lol I hit the State lake today for a couple hours. It was just me and my kids (2&5 years old) so I didn't get a chance to fish a lot but I got this one and a catfish that was around 5# If anyone wants to fish at the state lake hit me up. Quote
Busy Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 What state lake? I live about 4 minutes away from the LV County State Lake. Quote
Chris S Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 All good here. Doc cut it out got a few stiches. My buddy Sean and I had a blast at Melvern. We left with a live well with some meat and we both caught our first ever smallys!!! I hit Hillsdale Tuesday with my son Jake and we had 3Walleye and some Whites. Look forward to the next one! My biggest at Melvern was 3 pounds, on Saturday Quote
Chris S Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Finger Pics. My 7 year old begged to go and watch the doc cut it out. She even let him help out with the stiches. Of course we saw her two weeks ago when Jake had his yearly does of poison ivy ;(. Quote

I used to be able to just get close to it and get the stuff. Now I can walk through it as long as it isn't cut with the sap coming out of it. Quote
retro basser Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Dang Chris you got alot of good ones out there! I was impressed with the overall size of the fish... It was hard to catch one under a pound it seemed to me... even though Clayton probably convinced 50 or so shorties to jump in the boat I caught 30 at DGCO today before 9AM It was nice to set into that many, caught at least another 10 bluegill, sunnies, and crappie so i was throwin em back constantly. You only need a squarebill and a some kind of plastic worm to follow up the misses with... Might take my daughter out this weekend and let her throw a sinking bait for the first time Quote
Chris S Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I will be back to Melvern in the near future!!!! Quote

We didn't catch any walleyes and Peter only had 1 big white bass. Melvern doesn't have tons of whites it doesn't seem but man when you catch one it's a nice one. 1 Quote
Chris S Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Walleye and Whites yummy!! Thats only half, Sean has the other half!! Quote

I guess at least you got something good to eat out of the Melvern get together and not just a hook in the hand It was unfortunate you had to miss out on the good eats afterwards though. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 16, 2012 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2012 Well, finally got into a nice one at perry. Caught this 5 1/2er this morning in rock creek marina. Looks like a nice, healthy Perry largemouth. How was the water out there? Is it still looking really green? I'm afraid it may have another bad algae bloom like last year. Quote
pbrussell Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 It was actually noticeably greener than usual. I was a bit perplexed by this, seeing as how I'm used to the mud tint out there. Quote

I was a bit perplexed by this, seeing as how I'm used to the mud tint out there. Milford already has algae warnings, don't think it's blue-green algae but still harmful stuff I guess. I'm afraid that Perry may not be far behind. The water out there was bright green last time I was there, like a golf course green green. That was only in the marina by the dam that it was that green but we only had 1 bite back there so it must have been affect the fish too. Quote

My next door neighbor wont water his tomatoes without the Miracle-Gro attachment i swear... I blame him for the algae. I'm not dumb enough to think that it will ever stop so i just wish the'd invent a baitfish that would gorge on algae all day... http://www.weather.c...k KS 66212:4:US With this weather outlook for the next 10 days its gonna get worse before it gets better. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 19, 2012 Global Moderator Posted June 19, 2012 Chris and I will be enjoying the hot, windy weather on Hazel Creek Lake in northeastern Missouri for the next few days chasing that DD bass that broke my heart a few years ago. Hopefully we'll have lots of pics and stories when we return 1 Quote
retro basser Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I hope the guys have better luck at Hazel creek than I have at perry the last couple times out. Wendsday morning was just brutal, so windy and only two breakoffs for excitement. I think the fish are moving out further on the ledges & channels..makes beating the bank not so productive.. Quote
Busy Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I haven't had a chance to fish this week but my father and I did get the old 67' 18hp Evinrude Fastwin running so I took it out to run some gas through it on Tuesday. Man was it ever windy. I was very pleased with the motor and that it put the boat up on plane right where you want it. The '69 9.5hp wouldn't plane it out. I've been wanting to go to Perry or Clinton with it lately so maybe now with a bigger motor I can get on some bigger water. Hopefully with the rain last night this weekend will be better fishing! I really wanted to fish on Tuesday but didn't have the time. I would have imagined that even with the wind, the fish would be pretty deep. Everything weather wise is happening so early around here!
