So was it a Spot/LM hybrid or an actual meanie? An actual meanie at LOZ would be pretty rare considering smallies aren't very common. Or maybe they have become more common in the 10 years since I've been there.

We were pretty sureit was a Meanmouth. But considering it was so small it was hard to be 100%. Could have just been a spot/LM hybrid, either way a first for me not being a straight Kentuck.

If it was that spot toward the beginning of your video I would say that fish was 100% spot, and if any kind of hybrid a LM/Spot hybrid. Here is a fish that Clayton and I thought might be a LM/Spot hybrid from TR for comparison, not sure if it actually was but the jaw and some of the coloring made us think it may be a cross.

I always thought a spot/lmb hybrid was considered a meanmouth too but after some googling it seems that's not the case. I've caught several spot/lmb hybrids in the James arm of T rock, and one Smb/spot meanmouth at Stockton. Brian's fish def looked to have some LMB genes in person. Can we come up with a kickass name for spot/lmb hybrids then?

I never posted a report from Lake Shawnee---

It was a fun lake, super windy made it tough to stay where the fish were.  We caught 10-12 fish, but nothing over 2 lbs. (besides a drum)

My boat key broke off into the ignition, and then when we got him we were attempting to remove the prop to TM and broke it.  I cannot for the life of me get the nylock nut off the shaft to get the prop off.  Anyone had this issue?  ( I am replacing with the MG kit once I get it off)

They are becoming fairly common. Especially around the bridge

Got the nut off, but had to cut it with a grinder and buggered up the threads of the drive.  Hopefully getting a tap n die set to recut the threads this week.  I also had to destroy the prop to get it off.  Anyone have a recommendation on the Kipawa props?  They are about the same as the MG props and I was told they are "better"

Had a few buddies come down from Nebraska this weekend to fish Wolf Creek and Melvern. Given the weather I was really hoping I'd have a good shot to get some friends who don't fish all that much into some serious numbers of smallies.

All things considered, we did ok at WC with catching about 3 dozen in a half day Saturday and 4 dozen in a half day Sunday mostly between 12" and 15" with a couple around 18" and a bigger one lost boatside (plus catfish and drum) with very few dinks. Fish were mostly on Neds and shakey heads with a few on chatterbaits adjacent to weed lines. Color really didn't seem to matter and the bites were very light. The security gate said that catch rates were pretty low both days so it sounds like we did ok.

We fished Melvern a half day on Saturday. The nice weather and dirty water did us no favors. We ended up with a dozen or so dinks in the three hours we spent out there.

Not the crazy bite I was hoping for but still a good time. WT ~63 at WC, ~65 at Melvern.

It was nice seeing you and Adam on the water; sorry I wasn't much of a help in the big fish department. That wind was a bear. My results were pretty similar although I caught one that may have gone 2lbs but I couldn't leave the trolling motor to grab my scale and weigh it without ending up 100 yards down wind.

Ran guide trips at Wolf all weekend and it did not suck.

And that's all I have to say about that.

I would not be happy if I paid you to guide and you outfished me, you already do that every other week!

Funny story about that. Me and @basshunter0731 hired a guide the first time we went to the White River to trout fish. He was a nice enough guy, but a horrible guide. Told him we wanted big browns, so he broke out a can of corn and parked us on a school of dink 'bows that made me feel like we might as well be bluegill fishing. I had a brand new Rage spinning rod and Supreme spinning reel I'd bought just for the trip. I was fishing a little jerkbait because I wanted browns instead of their food like we were catching. Apparently the guide liked how it looked, because about an hour into it he asked to see my rod and reel and started fishing with it and passed his 5' 2 piece Shakespeare that he'd baited with corn to me. If it wasn't for the fact the guy was probably 75 I don't think I could have kept my cool. Thankfully I had a couple other good rods with me because that piece of junk he had wouldn't make the cut for a trunk rod for me.

It got better at the end of the trip when he hit a rock and the entire motor jumped off the back of the boat and sank while we were 3-4 miles downriver from the ramp.

They didn't care at all. Everyone wants me to fish when I'm not. Literally every single client. I'm always pretty lax, mostly just dragging something behind the boat  because I can't lose focus on them. Both my overs were caught literally dragging a tube behind the boat. Both trips had plenty of good fish caught by them as usual, these are just pictures of my fish lol.

We started off targeting lmb but after an hour without a bite we switched to wipers and after several quick bites I knew we made the right decision.  Best fish of the day went 7.5 on a trap.

Fished Wolf Creek yesterday morning and it was borderline holy crap cold in that north wind. I found smallies adjacent to bait- the shad were very very tight to the bottom in about 20fow. Jerkbait fish were down wind of them and ned/shakey heads fish directly adjacent. I tooled around for some largemouth and found fish around green weeds on a swim jig. The largemouth were not hitting like it was a cold front. Biggest of the day was at 19".

2 pounds out of the money. 1st and 2nd both went to guides on the lake and 10th was a guide and Elite pro so we didn't do bad. Lots of guys without limits and it wasn't looking good for us there until Chris went on a tear and caught 3 keepers between 1 and 1:30. We just needed a kicker. All our keepers were on C&C baits though so that was pretty cool .
