Fished southern half of the lake, lake was up a little. Most fish came out of 2-5 feet of water. Prob 50 caught out of my boat Tourney down there tomorrow(Sat) as they were setting up for it today, just an FYI I have been thinking about trying this lake out, curious to what you were throwing? I can't think of two many days where I have caught more than 10 bass, 50 is impressive. Thanks Quote

After really struggling so far this year I wanted to see if anyone on here had any suggestions. i fished three days over the past week at Jacomo and Blue Springs and only came away with two small bass. Water temp was 67-70 and suprisely clear. I fished the pockets with soft plastics, buzz bait, soft jerk bait mostly. Tried a spinner bait and swimming jig today. does that sound right or is there another approach that would be better at this water temp? thanks I haven't fishedBlue Springs either but have fished Jacomo (with bluebasser) a few times and we faired pretty well. It's an older lake with tons of pressure and most of the time fairly clear water. Finesse presentations on spinning gear resulted in most of our fish. Quote

Thanks 50 fish is a pretty standard day during the spring on Wolf, it's pretty incredible if you love huge numbers of fish and almost always a mixed bag of species. Ned rig and tubes are pretty much the odds on favorite to catch the most fish on most days out there, but you can catch them a lot of different ways. I like to fish spooks, Whopper Plopper 130, Bull Shad, Keitechs, and spinnerbaits to help mix it up a little. 1 Quote

You haven't fished Shawnee Mission Park have you? That's what it looks like they're trying to turn it into, and it used to be a really good lake before they did all that. They ranked fishing as the 10th most popular thing to do at Olathe Lake, right behind getting high and blackout drunk I believe. First, they'll kill off any vegetation in the lake because weeds are ucky. Shoreline trees will be cut down and any laydowns that can be reached will be removed since they'll probably start allowing swimming to help attract as many people as possible. From the video it looks like the entire cove on the northeast side will be blocked off to boats, but at least that's not a good area to fish They'll have to remove the bluffs and flatten out the banks to build a lot of the stuff in those videos, which combined with the removal of the shoreline trees will speed up erosion. Maybe I'm being a Chicken Little about it, but I don't see any way it turns out to be a good thing. 2 Quote

Those are my winter time baits out there when it's mainly largemouth in the outlet or trees. Not so much during the warmer months when I'm targeting smallmouth. Quote

They're doing it with cedar lake too, just click on the suggested "cedar lake" video. https://youtu.be/L7do51veHjw I wouldn't get too worried about it until they announce how they are going to fund it. cbass12 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I don't like the idea of these "improvements". Cedar lake has been jacked up ever since they did the 159th/Lone Elm road construction. Quote

Ya know...since it was a crappie tournement and all. Lol We caught plenty of those too. It's pretty standard to run into a ton of Smallmouth during the Crappie spawn. But I've never seen you with anything but a largemouth in your hand, so you may not know that. 4 Quote

SuperFluke Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Dwight and I fished Smithville on Saturday as part of Corporate Challenge. We were in the second flight, but when we got to our starting spot there was nobody there. Dwight landed three fish pretty quick on a black/blue craw out of flooded grass, but only one was a keeper, and it turned out to be our big fish for the day at just over 2 pounds. I caught five or six throughout the day, but I only added one other keeper, and it was a skinny 15" fish. Most of mine came on the black/blue wobbler in the flooded grass/brush. I had a couple of followers on the squarebill, including one GIANT that followed all the way back to the boat, but I just couldn't get them to commit to it. At the end of the tourney, we made a last second run to a spot that we had already fished , and I nailed a sand bar right when I came off plane with the lower unit. Freaked out for a minute, but the lower unit was still there when I trimmed it up...just a little bit beat up. Overall, we were a little disappointed that we didn't get more keepers but still ended up third in our Division with 4.01 lbs. http://www.kccorporatechallenge.com/results/2016 3 Quote
