Still having steering issues left over from the Classic so the VLO isn't even an option. So Cass and I took the yak to Kill Creek to chase trout. Fishing was pretty slow, and when I was about to leave I tried to pick a bait off a stump just below the water. Cass wanted to see what I was doing and both of us on the side at the same time flipped us. I lost my cell phone, my Virb, and a lower end Shimano/St Croix spinning combo. Not to mention the water is still way to cold to be swimming in. Seems like if it wasn't for bad luck lately, I wouldn't have any luck. Probably still be back out in the yak tomorrow, going to climb right back on that horse. that SUCKS. Sorry to hear it. Quote
aj88kc Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Went out to day for about 5 hrs . Caught my first ever ned fish. I ended up catching 16 off of the ned today. 1 on a hard body swim bait and one off of a brush hog. Pic of my first ned fish. 1 Quote
bradco Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Fished Wolf Creek from 7-12:30ish. Was pretty much non stop action. Lots of little smallies & largies mixed in with a few solid fish. Caught lots of big ol white bass in the outlet. Just a few other boats on the water. Prob 50-60 fish each between me & a buddy. Water was 58-59 on the dam. All in all a great day on the water. 1 Quote
aj88kc Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 That was one massive shad. Nice job. I am going to make it down there here soon. 1 Quote

You're better off fishing one of the little ponds like Celebration or Prairie Center ponds. Woodland pond in Springhill can be okay too. Quote

Drew03cmc Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hey all, I went to Dg Co yesterday for an hour and a half, caught 30 LMB from 6" to 17" on the Ned from shore. They were all caught from three jetties on the west side, within 15 feet of shore. Quote
pbrussell Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Pretty sure there needs to be a bass resource, fried crappie, catfish, walleye, and morel party sometime this spring... with beer. Sounds delicious, but may need to make sure there's a restroom near by too. 3 Quote

I hung my Ivy from a tree, and then Bond was nice enough to donate another one to me. I was just wanting a good jerkbait bite so bad and got it, so I had a hard time putting it down until I was fishing >4 FOW. 9 hours ago, awohlwend said: Looked like that second wiper almost stole your rod. Yeah I was certainly not prepared for that one. Quote

I could certainly provide some catfish and probably crappie or walleye if I really had to. I couldn't find a mushroom if it had a flashing neon sign above it. I'd be up for it though. Maybe a fishing day with a shore lunch type deal? Quote

I do like the shore lunch idea.... if we did it at melvern or milford we could probably have some fresh wally. Quote

I drank the last of my Crown a couple weeks ago I can just eat a sandwich and whatever sides are there, it really doesn't matter to me. I'd eat some fresh walleye though, I just don't like it enough to ever bother keeping one to eat just for myself. Melvern is always nice, but no way I'd be confident in having fresh walleye, even if we were all chasing them. Milford would be much more likely, but it's also an hour further drive, a long haul for a day trip. I wouldn't care if we even did it at Clinton or a small lake with a decent walleye/saugeye population (cough, cough, Wabaunsee, cough). Maybe if we gave the bleach lady some fish she'll stop plotting our deaths. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 Bunsee sounds great if enough people want to go that far? I'd be interested in staying at that B&B again so we could do it like last time? Quote

Do it during the summer so everyone can catch a fish this time  That lake has a pretty good saugeye population and stupid numbers of crappie, it's just hard finding one bigger than most of my swimbaits. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it anywhere but if it gets put together I'll surely try to. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 I'm down with the day trip/shore lunch idea. Just let me know when and where and I'll try to make it as well. Quote

Well obviously I certainly know where they all live at Clinton, but I also do at Melvern as well. I just never target them there, well, because brown fish. 1 Quote
