We both have the same Garmin units brah. Gimme a micro SD. If you do want to venture out with me for freezer fish sometime, you're always welcome!

I jumped on the Salt Armor train last spring when I first saw one of their deals. I get a new one almost every time I see an ad. I think I'm up to about 8 now. I've got my dad a few too. Super light weight and comfortable, but they will start getting stringy over time. Hence why I keep buying them haha. I got one of their winter ones too, couldn't feel a thing when we were running 60 on Table Rock last weekend in 29 degree temps.

The west ramp parking lot was full when we left on Friday. I'm thinking every lake might be full this weekend.

Gardner was good today. Worked hard for 8 fish. Berkley Pit Boss on a Biffle head. Fish were hitting on the fall popping the bait away from the bottom/bank. A few on a jerk bait. Water temp was 42-44 degrees.

Best fish was around 4lbs 8oz and about 19" long

Went out today for a few hours today and struck out once again. I threw a jig all day since I have never really thrown one I was trying to get used to fishing one and see what the bite feels like on them. I did get 2 bites on it today though. I felt the tap tap and a little pull that everyone talks about but when i went to set the hook there was nothing there so I don't know if they was just getting the trailer or what. I could definitely tell it was a bite though. I am making it a goal of mine to catch one on a jig before the year is up.

Hello all,

I am Bassresource newbie and came here in search of exactly what this thread delivers.  A bunch of fishermen talking about fishing around the area in which I live.  What a great thread!  So great that I felt compelled to join.  My two cents probably won't be worth a penny on this thread but I will try to chime in from time to time.

I fish from a small plastic boat(Old Town Predator 13) and paddle my way around local lakes and rivers. I have been fishing for as long as I can remember but mostly as a pastime.  Over the past few years I have come to enjoy it more and more, and I would say that now it's becoming more of a passion than a pastime.  My "home lake" is Spring Hill City Lake, it's not a great place to fish but there are some big ones in there, I play most of my golf on the adjacent links so it's a convenient place for me to fish.  My favorite place to fish is the Niangua River(not during booze cruise season), I love current, smallmouth bass, beer cans, and clear water, the Niangua has an abundance of all four.

Happy fishing!

Tom

Welcome! I'm also in Gardner and even fish Spring Hill occasionally, although I would a lot more if I was allowed to put my kayak on it.

We're lucky to have one of the most active and informative local threads that I've found anywhere on a fishing forum, welcome to it!

I know I wasn't the only one who fished yesterday <_<

The wife and I went to Lone Star for couple hours. We caught a couple dozen but we wouldn't have had a limit on a Thursday night. Probably 21 of them wouldn't have been even close to that 12" mark. I had one good one on the Sizzler, 2 on a BHW, the rest on the Ned.

Time to go through and see what I need for the upcoming season. I don't have a problem. :)

Where's the rest of it?

Good morning,

Like Irish Paddler, I decided it was time to start contributing to this thread as well. I have been following it for a while & learned a ton of quality info from you all.

My name is Brad & I live in Olathe and mainly fish WC & Melvern, with occasional trips to Lone Star & Gardner. I fish about once a week on the weekends & have actually met many of you at the boat ramps. I typically fish with the same group of 2-3 guys but would like to start going to the weeknight deal you guys do. Love the camaraderie & banter amongst this group and info that is shared.

I promise to start contributing. Thanks all for making me a better fisherman!

Brad

@RangerDanger and I fished Lone Star on Friday.  We fished hard with jerkbaits, traps, a-rigs, warts, jigs for about four hours in the morning and had two jerkbait fish to show for it.  Switched to the Ned, and with a little help from Ned himself, we turned the day around.  Ended up with about 20.  A white zinkerZ did the trick, but Ned was throwing a white shadZ.  Strolling the flats for the most part, although there seemed to be a few key spots where you could catch multiple fish.  Most of our fish were around a 1lb, but we probably had at least five go 1.5lbs each with Adam's jerkbait fish being over 2lb.

We did locate a nice rock pile with the humminbird.  Caught one keeper off of it too, with the Ned.

i went out to James A. Reed over the weekend and fished with jigs, plastic craws, rattle traps, jerkbaits and didn't get a bite on any of them. Only way i was able to get a bite was with a 5 inch BP xps swimbait. anyone? and feel free to suggest your favorite late winter/early spring lures.

Jake and I hit mound city Saturday.  Caught one good largemouth on a jerk bait.  Really need some wind.  After awhile we headed over to la cygne and got into the white bass and wiper for a bit.

On another note, my motor trims up super slow when it gets to a certain point.  Never had this problem before.  Anyone have any insight on what I can check before I take it in somewhere?

Also, trying to learn how to read side  scan on the garmin.  Is it good to go out of box?  Or should I change some settings?

Went out to Perry yesterday with the wife for a fishing/bird photography trip. And because the lake was teeming with bald eagles, I did a lot more boat positioning for photos than fishing. I did get acquainted with my new Lakemaster card, though.  Surface temperature was 44-47 depending on the area. One of the warmer areas had a bunch of gizzard shad flipping on the surface but I couldn't get anything going. Apparently, bass were on the menu:
