Super User gardnerjigman Posted December 8, 2015 Super User Posted December 8, 2015 Depressing year for big fish for me. Couldn't find a "Kicker" to save my life. Caught a ton of fish this year but never got into a big girl... except for the freak at DOCO that still kicks the jewels quite often...  2015 Biggest Local Bass-(largemouth and/or smallmouth)  Weight (or length if you didn't have a scale): Largemouth- 3.12  Smallmouth- 3.1   Lure: Largemouth-C&C Football Jig (black/blue with craw trailer) Smallmouth- Bone Spook   Pattern: Largemouth- Counting rocks  Smallmouth- Walking it    Lake: Largemouth- Lacygne  Smallmouth- The Vern   Time of Year: Largemouth Late Summer  Smallmouth- Mid-September     2 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted December 8, 2015 Super User Posted December 8, 2015      Still extremely disappointed with how much time and effort I spent on 'Vern that I didn't break my 4# goal. But hey, that's how it goes right?     Dude... I didn't break 4lbs on a freaking largie this year... Definitely how it goes... 1 Quote
Ondrejka Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Dude... I didn't break 4lbs on a freaking largie this year... Definitely how it goes...  I only had three green fish over 4# this year. One 4.3 at Lone Star in the spring, one 4.3 at DOCO (LOLOL), and the big one this past weekend. Far, far cry from last season...and I fished even more (if that's even possible). 1 Quote

ljd1971 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Liar. The BR armada is about the invade WC.  I've been chicken to try WC but I'm very susceptible to peer pressure. So if I try it, I'll be a part of the armada, right? Quote

Just get in line on the merry-go-round at the discharge or try to stake a claim on a good producing spot. Quote

Peer pressure or guys having a good day somewhere directly relates to the armada phenomenon. It's really nothing to be chicken of. Quote

SM - Melvern   Time of Year: LM - 9/26 SM - 11/22   One of these days I'm going to make it to WC or be on Melvern when the fish are actually there and get that smallie number up. Gonna be hard to beat my PB smallie given it was caught out of the Detroit River. Was fishing alone standing in a marina with 1 rod and tube tied on and no other gear.  Didn't have a scale or tape with me but I'm certain it will be tough to beat around here. If anybody has an estimate on the size lets here it. I'm certain I can find a bigger LM in Kansas or Missouri than what I have caught in Iowa. Not a bad first year of fishing for me after moving to Kansas in February.    1 Quote

Definitely on the way upper side of 4, if not an even 5. Comparable to Clayton's 4-11, but yours looks like it's got more shoulders. Bassboy98's was looking a bit small to be pushing 4...but anyway, those Michigan smalljaws are something else man! Between Sturgeon Bay and Michigan those are two trips on my list. 2 Quote
awohlwend Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015  Between Sturgeon Bay and Michigan those are two trips on my list.  There was a college tournament taking off from the marina I was fishing out of that day. I could have won the tournament with the biggest 5 I caught standing in the marina ha! Actually was offered $20 for that fish as a tournament boat was pulling into weigh in. To bad the marina was off limits for the tourney it woulda been a slug fest. Quote

I bet that's the release point for all the tournaments there, so on non-tournament days I bet it still holds all those giants. Quote
