I remember when I was only eight years into my marriage: fresh-faced, overly-trusting and naive.

At about ten years I learned: Bonus. Points. Do. Not. Exist. They are a fiction, a sham, a long con used by wives and girlfriends throughout history to get us to do things without the explicit promise of reciprocity.

Sorry guys, I gotta go hang out the laundry and get dinner on.

Found out last night I'm an (insert explicit comment from wife here) to the core. Here is how this was determined:

Yesterday was supposed to be an attempt to earn some bonus points...

Get off work and go get the kids. (bonus points)

Get Kaitlyn started with home work (more like practice since school is on break), Kensley set up with her "pretend homework" (coloring book) (bonus points)

Throw chicken breasts in the oven (bonus points)

Mow the yard... hopefully last time this season (bonus points)

Start boiling water for angel hair pasta, also start boiling water for steamed broccoli. Make home-made parmesan sauce. (Megan's favorite meal = Huge bonus points)

Finish cooking dinner and put it in the oven to keep warm (tied with above points)

Speed round on baths for the kids (gotta hurry cause I want to have dinner done before the game starts) (Bonus points)

Realize that Megan's favorite show "Fixer Upper" is on during the game, so DVR it.

She get's home as I'm finishing up unloading and loading the dish washer. (obvious bonus points)

Enjoy our meal, play with the kids, then start a movie for them upstairs, start the game about 5 minutes behind... no big deal thanks to DVR.

Leave in the MIDDLE of the game to go get her a sundae from sonic... HUGE BONUS POINTS (I actually turned the game on on my phone... hehe)

Amazing game, its over now, she flips about missing Fixer Upper. Husband saves the day (bonus points)

We lay down, I'm counting down until she falls asleep so I can turn that retarded show off and finally finish my MLF episode. She hasn't moved in minutes... eyes are shut... little girl snores are starting to creep out!!!

I stealthy slide over, grab the remote and within seconds I'm in small mouth heaven with hackney and ehler! She out of no where rolls over, hits the remote landing on the volume button as they are just getting ready to go to commercial (with the loud intro music) which quickly wakes her up sending her into a rage compared only to waking a hibernating bear...

(ENTER LOTS OF EXPLICIT AND SPECIFIC TERMS HERE)

Turns out, I'm a (beep) for turning the tv, and it was my fault she woke back up because her show doesn't get that loud... (BONUS POINTS GONE... BACK IN BONUS POINT DEBT)

Now I'm sitting here wondering to myself why after 8 years of being together I still believe there is such a thing as bonus points...  :dazed-7:

End rant...  :laugh5:

Bonus points?? Shame on you for thinking there is such a thing.  What you did to accumulate these so-called "bonus points" is expected of you.  On the plus side, since you are out of bonus points, don't bother trying to get anymore haha

Congrats Keith and Van. 2 good big fish and a great payday. Clayton and I worked SO HARD to try and take it away!!! Never got a big bite.

Congrats to Adam and Tins! They put in some work and jumped 4 places to hit paydirt at 3rd! Not to mention a $65 drum!!!

Fun circuit boys. Looking forward to next years (if Clayton survives hurricane wifey-poo! Lol)

Man I had an absolute blast this weekend. I've had my fair share of great days on Melvern and was excited to battle through the tough day and end up with 3rd shy of 10 lbs, and was more excited to see most everyone get on some fish and do well. I already can't wait for next April to start up our Thursday nights again, but like I said at the ramp let's not make it spring that we all see/fish w/ each other again.

I agree.  Despite food poisoning Saturday I still had a great time.  Would have been nice to catch some of the bigger fish that I know both of those lakes have, but it wasn't the case.  I'm going to start lobbying this early... Tuesday and Fridays are the only days I can fish in the evening.  If it works for everyone, we should make it Tuesdays instead of Thursdays next year.

Thanks Coty! Both days were a major grind just to find bites. I think I caught maybe 18-20 fish in the two days combined. I'm gonna miss fishing with you guys this winter, it's been some of the most fun I've ever had and couldn't have met a better group of dudes

You guys found it tough Sunday at Melvern, too? I guess that makes me feel a little better. I only caught one nice smallie and a handful of shorts until I finally got tired of fighting the wind and left at noon. I did catch some nice whites and two of the biggest drum I have ever seen though. That counts for something, right? Yeah, I'm not buying it, either.

Not necessarily tough as far as finding bites, but more finding big bites. We probably caught 30 or so fish, but only had two fish over 2#, and a few that came unbuttoned easily over 18". I can go out there and have an 8 hour trip and between 2-3 guys have a 60+ fish day, but this fall time stuff has me on the big fish grind. The only thing that made it extremely difficult was not being able to fish effectively because of the south wind and gnarly rollers. Also note that judging by the water, it looks like the lake is in the process of turning over. We did catch our fair share of whites that seemed to have taken over my normal big fish spots for that day.

Back out Sat & Sun for two person guide trips, I think it should be good.

If someone wants to fish Wolf Creek Thursday and is willing to put gas in my truck I have an empty seat and am about positive I can put you on some good smallies and maybe some wipers.

Anybody have any tips for Melvern this weekend?

Read my latest post above. Like I said I'm fairly certain the lake is turning over. Smallmouth and muddy water don't get along. Find my boat and I'll throw you a rope to tow you along with us.

Any baits particularly good?

Caught too many fish on all the usual suspects to narrow it down to one. Swimbait, 3.5" tube, 1.0 or 1.5, annnnnd da Ned. Might try a lipless or spinnerbait if you're bored. Come say hey if you pass by.

Okay! Thank you. Hope to see you on the water!

Doubt you'll get much since there is a 2 day out there this weekend.

I saw that. I've guided plenty of weekends putting in with tournaments. Not so much worried about those turds.

Agreed.  There are plenty of places to fish, plus those guys will be looking for a couple big larrys.  I was more referring to "tips on melvern".

We sure didn't have any problems finding fish when we fished behind the 2 tournaments that took off. lol. Sure did get a the stink eye a lot when we pulled up behind a boat and had them killing the pomp and spook! lol

Why not join a club and prove that the "turds" don't bother you? I know many club members from many clubs that have welcomed members of your group to join with no bad mouthing or ill thoughts.

Don't read too much into it. It was simply a figure of speech that is commonly used between most of us. For instance, if one of our buddies win our Thursday nighters, they will be referred to as a "Turd" the rest of the week. lol. It wasn't directed towards any one person, so no need to get to upset. I know most of the EKB guys (and gals) and they all seem like pretty good people. If you look at everything with negative eyes, you are only going to find negative things....

Good fishing
