Anybody fishing Saturday morning and need some company? Haven't gotten my weekly fix yet.

I'll be at Melvern Saturday and Sunday morning. I feel like I won't be the only one on here that's going either of those days.

It's supposed to be a pretty perfect fall day Saturday. If the wind stays down it should be a solid day on Melvern.

Good luck. I know it can be done, but that would be putting in some serious work.

We've been putting in some serious work the past month or so and pretty confident we can do it. 15-18 for sure. Before 2015 is over regardless! I just want to live there...

If only I could have ran the Virb today  :dazed-7:  We almost left because the storms were so bad, wow am I glad we didn't. My thumb is hamburger from lipping all those smallmouth and monster whites we caught yesterday, well over 50 fish between us. I had 2 decent (2lb) fish on a tube but no other bait produced anything worth mentioning. We had 4 keepers (my 2 biggest were 18.5" 3lb 10oz, and 18" 3lb 11oz), and lost at least 3 more, all on Bull Shads. My wrist and shoulder are sore from how hard they hit those things and fighting so many stout fish. I had one big smallie hit so hard my freaking reel almost came off the rod when I swung into it. Couldn't take many pictures because of the almost constant downpours and stout winds, but we did capture a few.

I fished Cedar Valley Thursday. Wind was brutal, made it almost impossible to fish a jig. Even a wobbler was tough because I couldn't feel it when I fished it slow enough. Didn't touch a good portion of my favorite part of the lake due to the wind. Missed a huge blowup on a buzzbait, going to pretend it was a catfish. Still can't catch anything but drum on a crankbait out there but man they don't mess around.

I did get a pretty decent one on a spinnerbait that went 4lb 6oz.

Big surprise of the day was a really healthy spotted bass. I've caught a few out there but they've all been really small. This guy was nice enough to eat my wobbler off a rock while I was trying to get it unsnagged.

Fished my first tournament at Smithville on the 12th with my uncle. We had a limit by 10 but struggled to pull anything worth culling the rest of the day. We pitched jigs and shaky heads to cover the majority of the day which Ive found out is not one of my strongest techniques haha. Going to have to put in a lot of practice at it. I think we took 6th with 11.76 pounds. All around good day, I have a lot to learn before the next but Im excited to hit the tournament trail hard next year.

Melvern Saturday > Melvern Sunday.

The high pressure system really pushed them off a bit, but we still found em. And I found my new personal best, 3 lbs. 12 oz. Still just shy of that 4# goal. And Conor got a free marina souvenir which was a good "cap" to the day. HEH HEH HEH.

Also went through a massive school of feeding Gar in the back of Turkey Creek. Had one annihilate my Buzz's squarebill and ended up landing it, which was super fun. Never caught one in the mouth like that.

Melvern on Sunday was a bit tougher. There was also a KState tournament launching from Eisenhower when we got there. Mostly just wanted to get Charles on some fish, which we did. He tore them up. Nothing of notable size, but plenty over 2. He had a blast and it was a super nice day.

Melvern is one of those places that are on my list to fish, but since I know diddly about lake smallies and am boatless, wouldn't know where to begin. You guys tore them up for sure. Does it just get better all fall or does it kind of peter out at some point?

It's good all the way until the water gets hard if you know where to look and how to catch them. They just get fatter and hungrier until the water gets about mid 40's.

Well, I'll have to hope that at some point, there's an open seat for a day, or fish vicariously through you guys.

Easy, I may have to take you up on that. What days are you free?
