18 foot isn't an option after storage with the trailer is all said and done I literally just don't have room for it. I need to stick with 17 to 17.5 I probably could have an 18 footer under the right conditions maybe..but I think I'd be fine with a 17', 17.5'

Bottom line is don't settle. Wait a little longer if you have to, making sure you're totally satisfied.

How much room do you have for storage?  With A swing away tongue you may be able to get more boat than you think.

I feel your pain on storage!

Just a FYI, my boat takes up 22'

My garage is 22' deep. My boat is 16.5' and I still have to trim the motor all the way down and put it in at an angle to get it in.

A swing away tongue is a must lol, both of which these boats do have with the trailer. Weve looked at many boats so far, and Im thinking it may come down to one of these two. An 18ftr may be possible but it would just be a VERY tight fit if at all. I measured my garage but have forgotten exactly how deep it is. I like the triton more I think, but Im just curious what some other may have to say of the two!

Like these guys are saying, I'd go 18+ with a 150+. I understand your limit on storage though. I would prefer the nitro, but I'm a big nitro fan. It's basically going to come down to a personal preference for you between the two. As far as functionality, they are going to pretty similar. I will say that I owned a 17' nitro with a 115 on it and fished LOZ on ROUGH water. It was seriously idiotic to be out there in any bass boat, let alone a 17' one. I was very impressed how it handled the waves, and ran through the chop. Fished under the same condition during big bass bash last fall in a triton 186 with a 150 on it. My kidneys hurt so freaking bad from getting slammed around that I don't care to ever take another one out.

Good luck on the hunt man. It's fun, and sucks at the same time.

Makes me so nervous for BBB this fall in my boat by what you'd told me about last fall  :cry3:

I'd make sure that you find a place to stay that is close to where you are fishing. The last 5 fall BBB's have had a wicked cold front come through (like freezing temps) either the day of, or the day before. 2 years ago I pre-fished Thursday in shorts and a long sleeve. Fished the tournament in thermals, jeans, long sleeve, hoodie, bibs, winter coat, ski mask, hoo rag and gloves. It was bad.

Anyways, I say stay by where you will be fishing because obviously you don't have to worry about getting to weigh in if you don't catch one. Worry about catching your toad, then worry about getting it to weigh in. I may be down there myself this fall. Haven't decided yet.... or should I say I haven't had the courage to ask the warden yet....

Mine is 19'.... when I eventually get my own boat it will have to be 16'-17' and have a swing tongue. And even then it will be tight. I would love to have an extra 3 feet!!!

What kind of boat do you have? Ive had my Tr186 out in some nasty stuff on July weekends on LOZ and it handled it alright...though very slowly lol.

But admittedly my standards of handling the waves alright are much lower than most guy's. I'm young and never make long runs.

16.5' deep-V Alumacraft. There were times during the spring Big Bass Bash that we got rocked in the main channel, but my boat handles it *fairly* well. Still hurts though. Deep-V or not, 4 footers don't feel good in any small craft.

BBB is awesome man, other than the fact that the Ozarks is huge!!! A buddy of mine and I fished the spring BBB it was a blast. No big fish, just dinks but still a super good time fishing and learning a new huge body of water brother. I would definitely recommend trying it at least once. What's the most you could lose? 50-60 thousand if you don't get first? lol, even the after tourn. ceremony is pretty sweet, you get to see the fish all the qualifiers caught and plus a chance at early registration prizes!! Try it man, you'd enjoy it!

Never fished a BBB either but I'll probably get around to it one day, seems like it would be a lot of fun.

Was a good fishing weekend. Had a 5lb 1oz bass at La Cygne at about 1:30 in the morning on a 1/2oz homemade black and blue football jig.

Then Gardner lake showed up like it was the freaking Ozarks on Thursday night, producing the largest bag of the year so far with Micah and Adam's 15lb 3oz limit on a Code Blue wobbler. Coty and I had a respectable 11lb 5oz that was the second heaviest bag of the year from Gardner too.

Then I went to Olathe Friday morning because I couldn't help myself with the nice, cool weather and tore them up on a jig including a 3lb 6oz fish off the dam.

Nice looking boat man. I couldn't take that dual console out fast enough but it would be nice to be able to put it back in during the colder months. It's amazing how much more room you have with just a single console. Looks like it's ready to fish right away.
