DodgeRamWax Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Went to Osage State Lake and Pomona on Friday. Our best 5 would have been right around 18 1/2 - 19 lbs. Dad caught one over 5 at Osage and I caught 2 over 4 at Pomona. Dad's was on a spinnerbait and mine were on a cough big head wobbler cough! Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted July 6, 2015 Super User Posted July 6, 2015 Need some boatowners advice on this boat: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/5108101703.html The motor is old 1969, but supposedly freshly tuned and runs well. Was planning on seeing meeting the guy at a lake on Wednesday to check it out. Never owning a REAL boat before don't know what all to look for. Just seems like a decent deal for a couple grand. the cranking battery is brand new, the other 2 or 2 years old. comes with on board charger and cover. Trailer has bearing buddies. I asked as many questions as I knew to ask. Anything specific I should look for? Any comments on the fairness of the price? I'd want to check compression 2 Quote
Ondrejka Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'd want to check compression  Agreed. Find a compression tester if you can. You never want to get into a motor that needs more work than what the whole rig is even worth. 1 Quote
micahthorlawson Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Thanks for the input guys! I think I am just going to pass on this one. I was planning on waiting longer and spending more money on a nicer boat. I will probably just stick with that plan. 2 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted July 6, 2015 Super User Posted July 6, 2015 Good decision. The world of boat shopping is a frigid SOB. Unless you have the money to walk in and buy a showroom one, you will grow to hate the shopping. My house went under contract and if it sells, I'll be in the same boat you are. (not that I don't already shop around).  Hell, you stop fishing in the 2 man and your luck/skill might go out with it! 2 Quote

Super User gardnerjigman Posted July 6, 2015 Super User Posted July 6, 2015 FYI Kvd sexy frogs are 50% off at academy. They aren't marker like that though. Bought 1, say the price and went back and got 3 more. Quote
KSBassMan95 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Hey guys! I hit La Cygne the other day, thursday July 2nd, didnt have time to really post a report, it was my first time fishing the lake. The bite was SLOW. Me and a co-worker caught a few. But it was well worth that hard day of fishing, my buddy, ended up pulling in a 6lb 7oz'r! Ive never seen a bass so big, lol. We got out on the lake very early, 5:30, fished it till 1pm. Started on topwater, no luck. Started flipping and pitching some grass, west of the dam, had a few small guys, hit the dam with some square bills, again only caught one, wasnt even decent. Just as we were about to leave, we figured we'd pitch some more grass and thats when we pulled in this giant. Hitting Gardner lake tonight with him! Ill let you guys know how that goes. 4 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted July 6, 2015 Super User Posted July 6, 2015 That ^^^ is OBVIOUSLY photoshopped!!! That lake doesn't have big fish in it and I'd appreciate it if you'd stop posting reports from that place! (Nice fish BTW) 1 Quote

KSBassMan95 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 As you guys can probably guess I didn't get out to Gardner lake tonight...I however did check out the new Scheels store here in OP, and it's quite an awesome little store! Quote

Made me carry the team all year I don't think anything in that statement is true. haha I do however remember you almost falling in the lake at Pomona with your excitement of tying on a wiggle wart and catching a 15 inch bass that went straight from back fin to tail and nothing in between. Ondrejka Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Took a little guy out to Lone Star last night on a guide trip to get him familiar with the lake, as he's pretty accustomed to fishing nothing but ponds and spillways. Was scheduled for Wednesday, but the forecast wasn't looking promising and managed to sneak it in last night and dodge the rain.Talked to Jake at the launch before we put in and sounded like they did pretty well despite the cold front moving through. Had him throwing a jig to start and got bit right away. I threw a Big Head Wobbler for a few casts to show him how to fish it, and I got bit as well. So I passed that off to him and he caught a few on it as well. After about an hour and a half it slowed down just a little, so I introduced him to the Ned and he had a blast catching fish the rest of the evening. We bounced around from spot to spot, caught a few off the dam, and ended the night with some respectable fish in the livewell for a good picture (had 5, couldn't keep the last wrangled for the photo). He really enjoyed fishing the Ned so I left him with a pack of PBJs and a few shroom heads (wanted to know if they'd work at his ponds, lol). Great time and very rewarding, even just for Lone Star.  One thing to note that's kind of a bummer-the heavy rain we got washed away all of the slop areas on the lake.  2 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 8, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 I'll be fishing tomorrow somewhere before Olathe since it's my new days off. If someone wants to get out I have an empty seat. Quote
JakeJohnson Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Now I understand why Brian fishes Lone Star every night. My buddy and i went there fishing for wiper and caught a good amount but they were all really small. They were schooling on the surface which was fun. We decided to catch some bait for catfish hoping to get into some channel cats. The bank fishermen were tearing them up. We only got a few in the boat but they were definitely biting. Before we left, i made my buddy go down the bank so i can flip. Ended up catching 3 studs weighing 3lb 5ounces, 4lb 5ounces, and 3lb 11ounces (Flathead weighed 13lb 12ounces). Wish i was targeting bass the whole day. Someone needs to show me how to upload pictures with my phone! I should not have to use a computer every time. The process is almost not worth posting for me lol. 2 Quote

The pictures raw from my phone are too big to upload with the mobile uploader so I'm forced to do it from my computer. I know where those first two came from and knew it would be good there with the rise in water. LS is a gem, now you know Quote

kawiguy08 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 That's a freaking nice bass. That's what I hope to catch every time I am in the yak. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 13, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 13, 2015 My adventure at Mound City last Thursday. Boat was already filthy so didn't figure it would hurt to pull it out there. Roads weren't even very bad with all the recent rains. No big fish, just can't seem to keep a big fish buttoned this year Quote
conorsixtakc Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Saturday afternoon at LOZ - in the kayak, mid-day boat traffic, 1/2 oz football jig, and out of 20 FOW. Sometimes you just gotta work for em! Â Quote
