Went to Wabaunsee for the first time Thursday evening and Friday.  WOW what an awesome lake!  Caught 25 + small mouth with the largest 19" and right at 4#.  Over 20 largemouth with 4 over 15".  Lost a huge largmouth at the boat.  Easily over 5.  Caught most on Pop-r, quite a few on a Livingston square bill and several on a fluke.  Finally saw another bass boat on the lake Friday.  It's just too bad you can't get there from here.  But I'll definately go again.

I was thinking about going to Pleasanton if you're interested.

The wife wanted to go kayak on Friday night so we went to Lenexa, I grabbed a frog and a beaver and did pretty good with both. It's way different fishing from a kayak, but good fun.

Went to Lonestar yesterday morning, I haven't caught the quantity of fish like that in a while. If someone would have been with me we'd probably be in the 101 club. Was doing alright with a beaver then I caught one bringing it back to the boat so I switched to a rage craw for a little more action on the bait. They ate that thing up. Was catching 2 or 3 fish from each side of a dock, grabbing it on the fall like it was a race to get the bait. Once it started to sprinkle it got even better and every fish was jumping once I hooked it. Had to quit to help a resident get their boat that was halfway across the lake because they didn't tie it up good and the motor wouldn't start. I offered to help them find it when they came by in a canoe and asked me if I saw it. I quit after that since it was starting to get nasty.

Melvern is AMAZING right now, even during the storms. The rain actually helped. It was shocking to see how high it was.

Well, do any research like the KSU tourney. My post. It's a 17 year bite in the making. Good luck.

I hadn't done any research, just saw your "report" that said melvern is amazing. That pic Chris posted does help tell the story a bit better.

Cheers.

Well, that's what this forum is about. Reports, pictures......reports...

We've all fished Melvern for a long time. Not really unaware of any "secrets" or looking to fish "your" spots. Just like to see and hear how other people do when we fish elsewhere at the time.

All this tells me you need nothing more than a friendly push in the direction. Makes my post sound rather simple.

All this should tell you is that nobody is gaining anything from your post, other than you saw pics of some guys from the little apple hoisting some toads at melvern...

Skunked has been around longer than I have, he's hardly a lurker. I can almost guarantee he didn't catch them on a Ned rig and not anywhere very close to the dam if you go WAY back and read some of his past Melvern reports. I'm guessing the 17 year reference was meaning that they were eatinG cicadas and probably topwater too.

Oh I have read his stuff. That's why I was surprised at this stuff. Usually descriptive and knowledgable.

Sorry, just not used to condescending and patronizing tones in this group of friends.

Jake, Adam and I smoked them at Pleasanton yesterday. Didn't really fish much they wouldn't eat but a Pit Boss, frog, and bladed jig did most of the damage. Fish were just mean. I have no idea how many 2.5-3 pound fish we caught and thought were big fish until we got them in the boat, but it was a lot. Couldn't have asked for a better day except for not getting a big fish, other than that it was outstanding. Water was flowing over the road pretty good. I told Jake and Adam it's usually good when it's like that, thankfully they didn't make me look like an idiot. Water was up enough I even got my boat into the pond.
