I'd go.....

If you have a boat or know someone who wants to fish that does, we'll be starting at 6 if the storms stay away. There's a Facebook page I can send you also if you want to follow along in case someone has an empty seat.

me and a buddy went to prairie center park tonight, caught a bunch on top water baits! The whopper plopper to be specific! Thanks for the suggestion

No problem. I wish I could fish it more often but I take my dog pretty much every time I go fishing and they're supposed to be on a leash out there. Pretty tough to control a hyper 70lb golden retriever and fish at the same time.

You been to celebration park recently? Decent sized bass? What do you mean by the grass, fishing grass, or is it tall and all around the outer edge of the pond? I use to go to my step brothers football games out there.

There's tall grass around the edges and lots of grass in the lake. Every bass in that pond is about the same 1.5-2 pound size. Used to be some big ones but people found out about them and you know what happened next.

I'm swamped at work and I have to have my kids picked up by 5 and my wife doesn't get home till after 6 so that pretty much means I don't have much time to fish now

I haven't been out there in over a month. Bass are decent. Usually range from 1-2.5lbs. Biggest I've got out there is just over 3lbs. I'm sure there are some bigger ones in there. There are super healthy and fight bigger than they are.

The keep the actual grass mowed and trimmed pretty nicely. I'm talking about grass in the pond. It gets stupid thick, but you can sure catch the fish in it, and over the top of it. It usually get's a pretty bad algae bloom on it as well (usually later in the summer) but it doesn't hurt the fishing any.

Frogs, brush hogs, bladed jigs and wacky rigs kill it out there.

If you get out there, post up a report. Of the fish, and of the amount of snakes you see!  :laugh5:

Hey Ksbassman95. I am going to be moving to gardner and living on gardner lake and will be there on the 23rd. If you ever want to meet up and fish off the dock in the back yard you are more then welcome. It will great to meet up with other people that fish.

Free times a rarity for me kinda! But I'm down! Got a boat?!?! Lol

Although LaCygne is the only lake we will consistenty not be at in the rotation, I still think there should be a Curt's Pet Kitties bonus.

Me and a friend went out to celebration park today, we were killin em'! We caught about 21 combined, they were hitting top water and the wacky rig all morning. I'll add some pictures later, didn't see any snakes surprisingly lol.post-54679-0-59357600-1434070497_thumb.jpost-54679-0-74105300-1434070522_thumb.jpost-54679-0-38094700-1434070532_thumb.jpost-54679-0-43122200-1434070559_thumb.j

Sorry for the extremely late report. Conor and I hit Wolf Creek on Saturday morning in search of some brown fish. Took a gander at the outlet and the water temp was 91, so we made the run down to the rip rap past the island. Got bit shortly after arrival on a War Eagle. Had one more better fish nip me halfway back to the boat and missed him. We were marking a ton of suspended fish in about 20-25' of water where we were sitting, so Conor let his spinnerbait drift back a ways behind the boat and strolled it along. He got slammed, and broke off after a short tug on what we think was probably an angry Wiper. Would have liked to see that fish, but not long after he got bit again, this time it ended up being a 17.5" Walter. Super good fish. We got bored with the rip rap and decided to target some of those suspended fish by trolling cranks, because by this time the wind had picked up immensely and we knew we didnt have much longer before we got called off. Ended up going through a school(s) of slab Crappie that wanted nothing more than my giant 6XD. We boated 4 Crappie, nothing under 13 and the biggest being 15'. After the school had moved we decided to make a run to the wood, but by this time the mainlake was awful. Halfway back we heard the walkie go off and we were done. And sufficiently soaked. Since we both had time left, we decided to stop by Melvern to see what it looked like.....and wow. Only a foot or so of the rock jettys at the marina were above water. The marina cove in the back looked like the Lousiana bayous. The mainlake again was too rough for a run, so we fished where we could by the campgrounds. I got bit twice on the Ned, landed one, which seemed to come off of the campground itself. Conor and I joked that the fish were holding tight to the grills. :lolk: Good day to be out and hit both lakes, even though Melvern was....quite less than desirable. It will be a while before that recovers. :(

That lake doesn't have any fish in it don't waste everyone's time.

In fact why don't you guys just take the week off and come on over to my house with your wife and kids for my parade party?

Mojitos are a pain to make for that many people. I'm probably going to get a keg of BL but my wife doesn't want me to publicize that...

I have a feeling people will demand Mojitos anyhow.

:Idontknow:

We fished it yesterday evening. Water was up a bit, clarity was slightly stained. Were really erring them on cranks on the mudline and grass edges. Popping frogs in the trash (and I mean way up in the trash) dominated after the wind died.

Found this in my garden today, wasn't there yesterday so guessing less than a day old.  Leaving plenty of space in case momma sees me out there!

Went to Wabaunsee for the first time Thursday evening and Friday.  WOW what an awesome lake!  Caught 25 + small mouth with the largest 19" and right at 4#.  Over 20 largemouth with 4 over 15".  Lost a huge largmouth at the boat.  Easily over 5.  Caught most on Pop-r, quite a few on a Livingston square bill and several on a fluke.  Finally saw another bass boat on the lake Friday.  It's just too bad you can't get there from here.  But I'll definately go again.

Has anyone fished Melvern lately?

Check Brian's report on the previous page. Submerged campsite grills were the ticket  :laugh5:
