SuperFluke Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 First time to Wabaunsee with my neighbor today. He's 85 and hasn't fished much on a boat, but he handled his ned rig like a pro after I finally was able to talk him into using it. We had about 50 between the two of us with a good mix of smallmouth and largemouth. He caught his on a ned, and I fooled most of mine with a baby brush hog on a C&C rocker head but also caught fish on a wobbler, squarebill, and a senko. I lost all my good fish. Had one that was probably 3 lbs that flipped off as I was reaching for him at the boat. Lost another good one on a Mag Wart on the dam that threw it on the first jump. We caught 4 easily keeper crappie on the ned and brush hog that my neighbor kept for dinner. Here are some pictures I took of Bluebasser86 and Cassie today! A four An almost three 1 Quote
SuperFluke Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Sure that's not an almost four? Yeah. Pretty sure it was a 4-5 on the official scale. I took the picture from my boat and had to zoom in and crop to get it big enough to see anything. Still looks pretty small even after doing that. Quote

Sprocket Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Going to be at Wabaunsee Friday. Never fished it. Have cousins coming from Florida and they are staying in a house on the lake. Any tips for bass? SE Kansas grass grower Quote

Bassyakker Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Bluebasser86 and I hit Gardner lake this morning and did pretty well. they were hitting top water early then we started catching them on lizard and his wabble head. Bluebasser86 caught an almost 3lber and a 4.6 lber. I am sure he will post pics on here later. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Hit Wabaunsee Monday. Could have caught them every cast with the Ned but they were mostly small. Jig wasn't doing much until I switched from my normally mismatched jig and pork trailer to a matching plastic craw, it was on after that. One of Drew's custom warts was doing good on smallies and of course a couple drum. Biggest fish was 4lbs 6oz, should have had a limit of over 18"s but 2 fish pulled off and one broke off, so just the 3 overs on the day, all on a homemade jig. Bassyakker and I hit Gardner for a few hours Tuesday (after taking my boat through the carwash and giving it a bleach bath to soak in overnight). He got a couple pretty quick on a popper while I caught a crappie on a Ned, then a couple bass on a popper. Missed a big fish on a frog, hate to guess what it weighed but there was a lot of back sticking out of the water at one point. Picked up a baby brush hog and really started to put it to them, even caught a solid keeper. Got around to a little cut that Jon said a guy that lives on the lake says holds lots of big fish. I'd barely gotten "I never catch anything here", out of my mouth when my wobbler got slack lined. 4 pounds even and a new PB for Gardner for me. Called it a day shortly after that after we caught a couple more little ones. 1 Quote
kawiguy08 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Now I really can't wait to get there and start fishing. I just purchased a kayak also so I will be able to get on the water and not just the bank. Those are some nice looking fish bluebasser. Quote
KSBassMan95 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Anyone ever hit Frisco lake in olathe? Hows the bass fishing there? Also, does Gardner lake have and good bank fishing spots for bass? Quote

Prairie Center ponds are both pretty good and easy to walk from the bank though. 1 Quote

There's bass in Frisco, I used to fish there when I was in high school occasionally. Never seen a big one come out of it though. A guy from my church posted a picture on FB of his kid with a 14 incher or so out of there last week. Quote

What do you mean by the grass, fishing grass, or is it tall and all around the outer edge of the pond? I use to go to my step brothers football games out there. Quote
