Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 7, 2015 Super User Posted March 7, 2015 You couldn't pay me to go out there tomorrow after today. Only heard of 2 bass caught between all the boats today, both on minnows under a bobber. So did Peter get the $5 for big bass or did he strike out as well? Quote
Ondrejka Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 You couldn't pay me to go out there tomorrow after today. Only heard of 2 bass caught between all the boats today, both on minnows under a bobber. I'm hungry for open water. We're going to try and get bit amongst all the Backlashers, and if all else fails, sit on the bridge and fill the livewell with Crappie. Should be a nice day. Quote
Drew03cmc Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 If the wife hadn't had surgery yesterday, I'd be running to the outlet at Clinton for some wade fishing. For now though, I'm going to change line on a reel, reorganize the boxes and have a few beers. Quote
Ondrejka Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 LaCygne was awful. Not a single bite was had. However, one of my buddies fishing the tournament hooked into a massive Blue Cat in 5 foot of water on a jerkbait. He fought it for close to 15-20 minutes before they had it boatside, and his partner couldn't get it in the net. The line broke just as it slipped out of both of their reaches. I got a pretty good video of it that's on Facebook. That was the highlight for sure. Got out to Lone Star this morning. There was still ice in all of the coves, so I fished just about every bank + the dam. Fished jerkbaits the whole time, Not a thing. Left at about 12:30 just as Clayton showed up. It looks like he did fairly decent. I knew I should have just stayed and waited for the water to warm up a little bit. I went to Clinton and busted some ice for Crappie. Ended up with ten keepers. Amazing day to be out in this weather though. Quote
Brandon Moss Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I'll be out throughout the week hittingsome of the smaller lakes down in South KC area. I think tomorrow will be Lake Peculiar. Botts Road Pond should be warming up too. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 2 of my 3 fish were on your baits Drew. I switched to a smaller 78 pointer because the water was so cold but all I did was catch the smallest one of the day. Olathe and Gardner are both thawed. 1 Quote
Enphrared Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Hey yall, how's the bite going? Haven't wet a line since last fall. Thinking about trying out Catclaw there at James A. Reed this Saturday. Had some pretty good luck there last year. But hoping to expand my horizons some this year at other lakes where I can rent a boat. Quote
conorsixtakc Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 If we get a good warm rain this Friday like they're forecasting it should help get things started. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted March 10, 2015 Super User Posted March 10, 2015 If we could get these dang night temps into the high 40's low 50's to match the 70 degree days we would really be golden! Still loving this extended forecast though! 2 Quote
Ondrejka Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Man me too Coty. I might try and get out to Lone Star for an evening or two this week if I can get out of here by 4. SPRING!!!!!! Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted March 10, 2015 Super User Posted March 10, 2015 I'm dying to get back out there. Like I said, between the kids and my wife's schedule it's going to be a miracle to fish anything other than weekends or the thursday nighters at olathe or gardner... Quote
Jond6236 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Me and a couple friends are going out to tablerock Friday and I was wondering if anyone has any tips since I've never fished their during the winter spring transition and of course I'll post about how it goes Quote
joefish Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Made it to Leavenworth State Lake today. NO ice lake is clear as is the water. 3 Quote

Nap8tak Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 That's what I thought but the eyes looked wrong? That one looks like the earlier discontinued models. The new models have those "S" in the eyes. Quote

Just got back tonight. Kept lookin in my rear view mirror the whole way. 2 fish just over 7 lbs, 5.7lbs 4lb, smallie almost 3 lbs and tons of 2-2/12 lbs. Lost an absolute monster today...got me wrapped up in a cedar. Couldn't turn her. A-rig. I fish from she'll knobb bridge up the white about a mile and down the lake to big creek. They are moving up but still sittin in 15-20 ft. Deep. Have your boat in about 35-45 feet. Fish points into pockets and points entering into creek arms. Also secondary points. If the deep water hugs in close in a certain area and there is timber that's where they will be.pay attention to where the channel is. Pole timber is better than heavy cedars. Fish the a rig sloooooooooooow. Water temp was 43 today. They may be shallower by end of week with warm weather. Ass crack it. It's supposed to be sunny and the best bite is before noon. Don't pick up the ned rig unless you get desperate. Check out webboutdoors for last tournament info. Big weights without the a rig. Also check out ozark anglers.com sorry about the long reply but that lake is going to be incredible real! Quick. let me know if you got any ?s I'm gonna try to get down again this weekend if I can. Big gurls are up!! Pray for clouds and wind and rain. Wellll I tried to attach some pics but it just tells me my file was to big. 2 Quote

Ya I do have a quick question, besides bama and Ned what else would you through and is the pace still slow? Quote
FishingCole Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Also any advice on crappie would be greatly appreciated. We want to catch dinner while we are there and don't want it to have to include Bass. Quote

We want to catch dinner while we are there and don't want it to have to include Bass. Good luck, even the guides that fish there every day can't find crappie. Get a trout permit and some power eggs and go to Taneycomo for an hour and catch dinner. Quote
Dpb2 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 If I could like this twice I would! Ya I do have a quick question, besides bama and Ned what else would you through and is the pace still slow? Jerkbait and spoon was the only other baits I had out. Dropped a spoon whenever I saw them on my graph. Guys throw a grubb down there a ton. Also wart will be commin back if not already on windy banks. Locals also throw spinnerbaits slow rolled. If you catch one or get bit back the boat off and work the hell out af that area. I'm working the a rig slow because they are down pretty deep in those areas. They are pushing the bait instead of really nailing it. You just lose contact with the bait. For every 1 I caught I missed at least that many. They could easily move up shallower if there's wind or just the warming trend goin on. 70 this weekend. Drop ur trolling motor about 2 long casts from bank and work ur way in. Don't just start at the timber u see. Rig ur a rig weedless with the one in the middle exposed. Bring lots of baits. I'm telling ya that lake is going to go fn nuts. Good timing on ur part. If ur gonna be in a different area of lake post a ? On ozarkanglers.com They are very helpful. Quote
micahthorlawson Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Installed a little Lowrance depth finder last weekend and took it out on Lenexa Lake to play around with. My water temp was reading 51-54 degrees. That seems way too warm to me. Could it be right? Or is my thermometer messed up? I did catch my first bass of the year! Tiny bass on a jerkbait. Quote

My high end Garmins read 47-51 at Gardner Wednesday. Seemed high to me but the little Hummingbird in the console was getting 53 everywhere and I'd hope they're accurate for what they cost! Fish were surprisingly inactive for those water temps though. 1 Quote
