i aslo took this online and its time consuming just because you have to watch videos and then answer questions its not hard but you do have to watch the vids. it will take a while but you dont have to take it all at once you can leave it up and keep coming back to finish it. i learned alot about rules on the water. just wish they would make every one take it cus alot of guy dont follow the rules. and it does cost money but dont remember how much i want to say around 30 bucks and then they send you a card in the mail. but once you pass it u can print off a paper copy to get you buy until you get your hard copy!

Totally agree, it's ridiculous how many people don't understand right of way situations down there!

Sadly I wouldn't plan on learning anything from the course. I took it online a few years ago and if I remember correctly I spent ALOT of time learning about ocean buoys for living in missouri!

Spend some time navigating the main channel of LOZ in the summer and you'll realize how many people would benefit from the course just from a basic right-of-way education

Any of you guys install bluewater led's yourself? thinking of putting them on my rig. Doesn't look too bad

I'm about to get some for my boat but looks easy but you can complicate it depending how u rig your switches but once you figure that out then it's just hot and grounds to every where and where ever u want ur.switches

Late report from Wolf Creek on Saturday. It's always hard to follow up Clayton's trips, lol.

We got out a bit later than usual, which was probably for the best, considering when we showed up they weren't letting anyone on due to the heavy fog. There wasn't a stitch of wind either. So instead of sitting around at the ramp, we killed time and drove up to Melvern to take a peek. Frozen solid. Drove back down 75 to Wolf and got a phone call from the check in guys letting us know we could launch, which was about 10am.

With no wind at all until about 11:30, it was the calmest I've ever seen it. Which was nice, and didn't affect the fishing much. Made rounds up and down the rip rap, which produced about 12 fish when all was said and done. Nothing from the clay side. Nothing in the trees either. Couldn't get bit on anything but a jerkbait (I wasn't complaining). With the high skies, Pro Blue was the ticket. Had a Channel Cat break my heart thinking it was a big Smallie. No Brownies unfortunately, but 3/4 of the Largemouth we caught were really dark-until they were in the boat we definitely thought those were smallies too. Had two really good ones come unbuttoned after making hard charges under the boat. Nothing too exciting to brag about, but it was a gorgeous day to get out amongst this winter wonderland we're in right now. March can't come soon enough.

Yeah... Drew you should probably do it too just in case. It's stupid easy to pass, just time consuming.

I had planned on doing that anyway, but thanks for the reminder.  A buddy of mine has a place on LOZ as well and last year when I was there, we could have used another licensed boat driver...if you know what I mean.

Haha it's hard enough being the only one during the Summer months, I know exactly what you mean  :laugh5:

I installed Bluewater Lights in my boat last year. Its not to hard just plan it out be for you start. You will have to drill some holes into you boat. And you will need to snake tape to pull the wire,  My Ranger has conduit running under the gunnels.  I installed a switch for my storage compartments and one for the gunnel lights. The water proof micro switches are pricey, but the wire you can buy at Westlake or Lowes. I did need a few stick-on wire holder and heat shrink tube. I would recommend soldering your connections and shrink tubing them if you plan on keeping you boat a while. Bluewaters website has installation videos to check out. Last year I watch the installation of Brent C. lights on his boat, trailer, and truck, I saw things that I did different. It took appr. 4hrs for the compartments and 6hrs for the gunnels. They look cool and are a lot brighter than 12v rope light. Hope this helps

Thanks for the tips.  I haven't got the kit yet, but I'm already planning it out in my head.  I ran the electrical for both of my lowrance units using waterproof heat shrink connectors, and when I snaked those I left an extra string in the conduits in case I had to do it again.  I'm not too worried about running the wires or putting holes in my boat/livewell.  I've found you can basically seal anything nowadays with the right product.

Why did you go with separate switches instead of attaching to your Nav Light switch?  I was thinking I'd just attach to the Nav switch...

cus it will be on all the time when ur switch is on like at night or im planning on a spring loaded switch so its only on when i need it. you can have a master but then u will have to remember to turn it on!

I wired the compartment lights to the acc. switch so I could turn on and off as needed. And I wired the the gunnel lights to a waterproof micro switch at the dash so they could be turned off while running. The led lights are very bright and I could not see past them during low light or night time conditions. Its also helpful at the center storage compartment to install the light onto the lid instead of inside the compartment. This will help when rigging up in the dark. Also BPS has a new kit including 4 lights for around $60.
