Went to Melvern Saturday and had some issues with the outboard. Launched from arrow rock ramp and fished that cove for a while. My wife and I quit after about 3 hours and ended with 23 fish. Biggest was 2.51 lb smallmouth. Whites were very active on the plus side.

My wife and I took our dog rollerblading this morning and we past regency lake park and she told me she wanted to go fishing there in the afternoon. We came back and just started catching largemouth left and right on the Ned rig. Ended with 27 fish. Turned out to be a pretty fun afternoon

Water temp? What was working for you?

I don't know the water temp. My cranking battery was low on charge and I never turned the sonar on since I needed the battery for the outboard. Everything we caught was on the ned though.

I had 20 minutes over lunch today and happen to be near Heritage Park with my rod reel and a new baffle bug.  I got a biffle bug on a biffle head wet and managed to catch 1 keeper.  Great little 20 minute break.

Could someone please tell me what is a Ned rig? I see a lot of posts about it and am completely clueless

You can google it for pictures but basically it's a 3/32 oz mushroom head with a zman zinker cut in half and glued to the head.

Sounds fun, thanks for the report - I tried Regency Lake a few weeks ago, but gave up quickly because of the algae growth.  What part of the lake did you have success on?  Thanks for any info.

Our best luck was just west of the peninsula that sticks out. The algae was annoying but we just swam the Neds pretty quickly over the tops of it

It's not an exciting looking bait, but flat outfishes everything else when they're on it.

On a side note, there's a lot of pictures of me on Google images if you search Ned rig  :eyebrows:

Ned rig purists swear by the zinkerz when fishing the little rig. The natural buoyancy and elasticity of the elaztech  :laugh5:  makes a difference compared to using traditional soft plastics. Sounds insignificant but subtlety is what the ned's all about. So if you're going to give the ned a try, do yourself a favor and pony up on some z-man zinkerz.

The great thing about them is you can catch 20+ fish on half of a zinker.

Totes. I've been fishing their finesse worms on shakey heads too, they rise up off the bottom really well and have that great wiggle. They can be difficult to affix to the head depending on what style you use (I like Owner Ultraheads) but when you get them on there they last forever!

I've been around here and there this past week. Fished a pond for awhile Wednesday. Wasn't nearly as good as I'd hoped but I did get one pretty decent one that looked to be a spawned out female on one of my bladed jigs.

Thursday I met up with NavyGuy1522 at Douglas to fight the wind for a few hours. Fish were really eating a jig, spinnerbait, and bladed jig. We'd get on a good group of fish and then go awhile with nothing until the next little school. Matt got a keeper saugeye on a deep crank and right before we left he was dragging a jig through the rocks and hooked something that was obviously larger than the little bass we'd be catching. Gave him a pretty good fight before I got the net under her. After a couple quick pictures a very healthy 11lb channel cat was back in the lake.

Friday Jon and I fished Mozingo. Started out really good. I lost a solid feeling fish on about my 3rd pitch then caught a nice keeper a couple flips later. Lost another one before we started catching them steadily on a Pit Boss or our home made bladed jigs. Had a few smaller fish on squarebills in the mix as well. Jon with our Pit Boss/BHW keepers/double.

They were smoking the BHWs

Jon got the big fish of the day on the bladed jig. Didn't weigh it, pretty long and skinny, probably in the 3lb range.

Things got real tough after noon, but it was a fun day with lots of fish caught.

I wish I had known you were out there, Blue.  I fished Mozingo last Friday as well.  Fishing was awesome in the morning and did get tougher as the day progressed.  My lucky 13th fish of the day was around 1:30 in the afternoon and was just shy of 5.5 lbs.  I caught a 4 even, a fish in the low 3s, and the rest were 1 or 2 lbs though most were keepers.

5.4 lb on my Boga Grip and spawned out.  Check out how tore up her tail fin is.

Positive we saw you from looking at your boat. All red Nitro isn't it? I think we saw you around the north end around that time as we only fishing about another hour past that before we had to leave.

Yeah, that was me in the red Stratos.  I wasn't way up on the north end.  I hit a couple of coves on the west side just northwest of the boat ramp.  The first cove was more of a pocket really but it was full of fish.  Later I moved a few coves north so that is probably where you saw me.  What boat were you guys in?

We fished from one end to the other and launched from the far north ramp on the west side of the lake. I think we were a couple coves up from the north ramp on the east side when we saw you. We were in a 16' Lowe Roughneck, kind of army green colored aluminum boat, 2 guys and a dog in the boat.

I guess I didn't see you.  I have never used that far north ramp.  I assume it is deep enough up there to put in a full sized bass boat?  Also, do they charge the entrance fee up there?

My club has a tournament out at perry this weekend, but I'm not going. I'm not that upset about it either.

Our club (20ish boats), and another club (25ish boats) will be having tourneys out there. And it was incredibly tough last weekend when I went up. I talked to three different guys prefishing, and between all of us, we only boated 10 bass.

yay?

Well I tried Paradise Lake Resort on Saturday. Caught about 50 dinks and one fish that was about a pound haha. Don't think I'll be heading back there any time soon

Olathe has been on fire the last couple days despite the cold front. The home made bladed jig and shakyheads has been producing most fish but they're eating a bit of everything from jigs to topwater. No monsters, but some nice chunky fish, not all bass either.

Got my first fish on my 9" Slammer too.

DSCF0543_zps81f24178.jpg

Also caught a really nice saugeye that went 3.15lbs.
