Mr_Scrogg Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Hmmmm Id let them run over the line... open the bail or click the thumb bar... wrap around the prop and cut the prop seal. Let water in their lower unit Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 14, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 14, 2014 We weren't even a cast away from the bank the first time, more like pitching distance. Curt's attempt at being nice was completely ignored when his "Good morning" didn't get a response, a wave, a middle finger, nothing. The second time we were about the same distance from the bank, catching fish this time, when a boat when in between us, did a tight circle around the boat, and then dropped 2 anchors exactly on the spot I was casting too, and moments later a second boat parked on the bank next to them, completely cutting off the area we were just fishing. A third boat fished down the bank and at one point there was maybe 20-25 yards from our boat to the far boat, just not and ounce of respect from any of them. Still, I think there were probably over 10 fish put in our boat while Ryan and Sizzle landed a few, and the Three Stooges landed a whopping total of 2 fish while soaking powerbait. You really had to be there and see it in person to truly appreciate how rude and disrespectful the whole lot of them were. cbass12 Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 imaging being able to cast your lure literally on the bank and someone drives (with the big motor) between you and the bank as your fishing it. That happened twice! Or was it 3 times? Well one time it was me when we were catching those whites, but I was using the trolling motor, and I did it on purpose Quote
sizzlefry Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 PM me that sloppy details of the idiots... i love a laugh!! I fished the dock at the loading ramp and a guy was mad ( I think) because I was fishing an area he was trolling. remember I was there first and he was not in the area when I started he just caught one in that area so he stayed to try and catch more but I kept casting 1-2 feet away from hitting his boat. so he loaded his boat and gunned the motor to disrupt the area for 3 minutes thinking he was scaring the fish away remember his boat is already on the trailer. I guess they think they own the area. I have ran into guys at Wyandotte furious at us for catching a limit and still fishing for trout. They actually said because we had our limit we were supposed to leave the lake. Trout bring out the worse in people I guess. I get it in a river but a stocked lake cmon. Quote

Its probably the same guys that were trolling past the ramp when we were trying to load up. I went out around the buoy to turn around and had to hurry out of there as he was crawling up my backside. Apparently he expected people loading up to get out of his way, no matter how close to the ramp he gets. And then....... there was the two jokers blocking the entire ramp while people were waiting to load up. I finally yelled up to them and asked if they could move to one side or the other. One guy just looked at me stupid, and the other acted like he didn't care. After a few minutes they finally finished and left. I'm a little glad I'm not doing the trout day next week considering the kind of idiots that were on the water yesterday. MakeS me think the next time I fish will be a weekday at melvern away from the crowds. Yesterday was the kind of day that makes me glad I don't have to fish on the weekends (even though it was a weekday)!! Quote
joefish Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 One of the best things about being retired is not having to go fishing on the weekends Oh yea, not getting up and going to work every morning is really great too! Quote
SuperFluke Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Got the boat out and headed to Gardner for my first trip out there. Caught a couple on a chrome blue rattletrap including one that went 2.5lbs. Then spent some time exploring. Rattletrap bite died off after sun got covered by clouds. Fun day. Water temps 46-52 Quote

SuperFluke Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Wow! 52 really? I almost went out there from the bank today, guess I should have. Yeah, 52 down south where it was like two feet deep. Spent a bunch of time down there but couldn't get a bite. All bites came towards the northern end near deep water. Quote
sizzlefry Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Hillsdale really  fill in the blank  today then we moved over to Lacygne and when we got there 30 boats were unloading including our friend PBRussel from a turny. to say the least it was not a good day for me or Chris. ughhh Quote

Spent a bunch of time down there but couldn't get a bite. All bites came towards the northern end near deep water. There's a very specific spot on the south end that they stack up in sometimes. I caught several down there right after ice out last year.  Hillsdale really  fill in the blank  today then we moved over to Lacygne and when we got there 30 boats were unloading including our friend PBRussel from a turny. to say the least it was not a good day for me or Chris. ughhh  Did you guys cast at the dam at all for walleyes? Thinking I might try that on Wednesday. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 19, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Well I stayed out at Kill Creek WAY longer than I should have yesterday, going to be a long night at work  Hard to leave when you're hammering them like I was though, trout and bass both. Caught a bunch of trout on a Little Cleo, home made trout jig, even a few on a 78 pointer. All my bass either ate the pointer or the Cleo. None of them were real big but all of them were fighting good. Water temps were 45.5-47.7. Quote
Doc-Drew Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I plan on taking the boat out of hibernation Friday. Anyone been out this week for trout? Other than blue at kill creek. Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 20, 2014 Super User Posted March 20, 2014 Nope it's the Trout tourney at Shawnee (Topeka). Quote
Levi Sperry Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I was at James A Reed Memorial Wildife conservation area today trout fishing but arrived late at like 6:45. Guys before me each caught 4 rainbows using orange powerbait. I was getting action left and right but no hooks. I was only there for about an hour and half though. Quote
cbass12 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 For anyone in the Columbia, MO area..... I got a first generation abu garcia vendetta for $29.99 yesterday at the Walmart on Broadway just west of Stadium Blvd . Like usual it wasn't advertised but when they scanned it it showed the sale price. They only had a few casting rods and I think they were all 6'6" medium. They had quite a few spinning rods though. SuperFluke Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Officially finished school today (thus the display name change), so i had to sneak the boat out this afternoon to celebrate despite the cold and the fact that it snowed this morning. Three hours at Lake Olathe. Got three bites and landed two of them. Both 1.5 ish lb largemouth on jerkbait (pointer in ghost minnow). Could not get bit on anything else. One was way back in a cove on a secondary point, the other was just off the bank on the north end. Water temps 46-49. 3 Quote

You're a brave man to try Olathe this early in the year. I don't think I've ever caught a bass out there before mid April. 1 Quote
