SuperFluke Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I almost got skunked today at La Cygne until I snagged a shad with my jerkbait:) I fished five hard hours using jerkbaits, spoons, lipless, shakeyhead, jigs......not a bite. Water was about 49 degrees on the north side of the lake, and around 40 down by the dam. It was pretty rough conditions(high wind and lots of pressure), but I expected to do better my first time out. On the bright side it was a very decent drive for me(1 hour) and I really liked the lake, I plan on going back. Does this lake produce in spring and summer as well? Anyone else know of anyone that went today, how did they do? Did you try going up the river at all? I've heard some promising reports from a neighbor that has some land up past the bridge. He's been bank fishing and doing alright on crappie and some other species when there's been enough free water. My boat is getting hauled to my dad's garage to take a nap, instead of lacygne. Gotta figure out what all I'm gonna do to her this winter. Wash the skunk off? Mine's in hibernation as well. 1 Quote
Jeremy Coalter Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I didn't go too far up into the river, I went up the left side a little ways north of the spillway where the channel hit the bluff but not any further. Quote
basshunter0731 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 you were just getting to the good part. 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted December 31, 2013 Super User Posted December 31, 2013 Jeremy, don't feel bad we almost got skunked that day. We were mainly trying to catch wipers but couldn't find them. I at least got to try out my new prop and it picked up several mph. That was more than I expected with how rough it was. My lift eye should show up any day and then I can get the jack plate on. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 31, 2013 Global Moderator Posted December 31, 2013 Have a Happy New Years guys! Be safe tonight, I don't want to see anyone when I get back to work Probably going to be another month or so before I have any fishing reports to add but even the bad reports help to know that someone is out there chasing them while I can't Quote

pbrussell Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Had a nightmare last night; I was on vacation and couldn't fish because of the weather. Sounds pretty similar to current circumstances... Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 4, 2014 Super User Posted January 4, 2014 Hey Blue, is it to early to start setting up the KC Classic? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 4, 2014 Global Moderator Posted January 4, 2014 Hey Blue, is it to early to start setting up the KC Classic? Fine by me, any suggestions on where? This far out maybe we could try to do a 2 day somewhere? Maybe LOZ, Table Rock, Grand, something like that? My parents just got a vacation home/time share on Table Rock so if anyone is interested it's possible we could have free lodging at Table Rock, just a thought. Of course 2 days in the spring on Melvern or Milford would probably be a good time too. Quote

Too ealrly to call DIBBS on a spot in the vactaion home?? :eyebrows: Of course I would probably be able to swing melvern or milford much easier than the Rock. But how much fun would the Rock be?!!!! Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 4, 2014 Super User Posted January 4, 2014 I vote rock! But seriously not everyone will probably not be able to make that trip so if we are going to get a group of guys together to invade the Rock we probably should still do a local thing also? Thoughts? That said I'd love to spend a weekend at the Rock... On a side note when do we get to go to Shawnee to catch trout? Quote

We could do a 2 day at Melvern, Milford, or the strip pits if we want to keep it closer. Or just stick with the 1 day deal but I think it would be a lot of fun to do a 2 day so we could do food and BSing afterwards on the first day. Most trout stuff doesn't start until the end of February/beginning of March. I'm hoping I'll get to make it out there a time or two but that's yet to be seen. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 5, 2014 Super User Posted January 5, 2014 What do you have in mind for a date for a 2 day? If we're thinking about camping that trip needs to be summerish ... I should have a new enclosed trailer in a couple weeks. We could use it as a shelter, tent, kitchen... I'm planning on putting heat and air on this one and I'm probably going to get a 8.5x24. My last one was 7x18" and would easily sleep 4. I loaned my trailer to a friend and he rolled it. I'll find out Monday what the Inshurance co wants to pay me for it Quote
cbass12 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 If the weather is a concern for doing an overnight thing, there's always the option of renting out the cabins in the state parks. Quote

Oh come on, Jon and I camped at the White River in 20 degree weather It really wasn't that bad in good mummy bags and on an air mattress so we weren't directly on the cold ground. I'm thinking maybe sometime in May? Hopefully we won't have any snow in may again this year and that leaves pretty much anywhere an option. If we do it later in the month any of the guys with older kids that may want to go would be on summer break for anyone who wanted to get a younster in on the fun. Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Camping is cool with me. Since it will be 2 day, Any place is fine. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 I'm not a cuddlier, I can't do the first sat in May (the weekend of the road trip). My wife graduates with her masters that day. Quote

My wife graduates with her masters that day. It's hard enough to get one person into a mummy bag, couldn't imagine trying to fit two. I would have to be careful about the 3rd week of May because that's our anniversary. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 So are we looking these three weekends in May the 10th 24th or 31st ? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 6, 2014 Global Moderator Posted January 6, 2014 So are we looking these three weekends in May the 10th 24th or 31st ? If they work for the majority. That should be far enough out there that everyone should know already if they have something going on one of those weekends or not. Quote
