Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 5, 2022 Global Moderator Posted March 5, 2022 Caught a bunch of fish today, no big ones but lots of them. Jerkbait, line thru swimbait, bladed jig, rock crawler, and a jig. Had probably 10 bites on a frog and missed every one of them ?♂️ 1 Quote

My first year it was so gin clear and I had a lot of fun learning how to fish that kind of clarity. Heard it had always been like that. Quote

HaydenS Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 Yeah, it was really red/brown. Chocolate milk. Not much visibility. Caught 14 fish today, most of them were 12-14 inches. 1 1 Quote

It was like this last year as well, @Dirtyeggroll. Last year was worse, compared to right now. Once it warms up a little bit, that water gets clear again. Quote

joefish Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 My neighbor is County Deputy Administrator with Parks and Rec under his duties. The County did contact State biologist last year in attempt to resolve the algae problem in Wyco. Appears it is not under control yet. 3 hours ago, HaydenS said: Yeah, it was really red/brown. Bass, but my fishing partner bought his trout stamp in case we caught any trout. Quote

Bluebasser you are wrong, 2 or 3 years ago Wyco dropped the trout permit. I fish there 2-3 times a week and keep up on the rules and regulations. Quote

They only have the fishing and boating permits and no option to skip out on the trout permit because I didn't want it last time I bought a permit out there. @HaydenS you don't need a state trout permit out there if that's what your buddy bought. If he wants to trout fish he should go to Lake Shawnee in Topeka. They stock way more big ones there. Quote

KansasBassin Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 This thread has been kind of quiet lately. Anywhere hot in KC area? I went to Melvern a couple weeks ago and got caught in a huge thunderstorm, before that caught a few decent smallies but too many white bass found my lure. Fun but not what I was fishing for. I threw the canoe cranks all day. went to a lake south of LaCygne called Tanglewood last weekend and crushed a bunch of 2’s way up in the weeds all morning on rage craws. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 14, 2022 Global Moderator Posted June 14, 2022 Melvern was good a week ago for my kayak tournament. First was over 90" and I had 3rd with 85.75", almost all fish submitted were smallmouth including big bass over 20". Quote

Still looking for my 3lb+ smallmouth. Quote

HaydenS Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Perry was on fire, caught 18-19 pounds last Saturday. My biggest was a 3.5 even smallie, buddies was a 4.10 smallie, and a 5 even largemouth. Rest of the bag was high 2's low 3's smallies. Pictures soon. 1 Quote
