One of my neighbors has lived in and fished in Wyandotte county for 55+ years, not once was he stopped to be checked for a fishing license.  He was chatting with a game warden a year or two ago and he was joking about never getting checked for a license, fish time he was ever checked.

I usually get stopped at Wyco 2 or 3 times a year for boat inspection an license check by the Sheriff Deputy.

I've been checked quite a few times, even at some of the out of the way lakes. I use to get checked about every other time I fished Wyco, even during the Wednesday night tournaments a couple times.

Hey Clayton, they still have these?  I am interested in fishing them with my high school fishing partner.  I've looked on the website, but it just looks like cat fishing tourneys.

They did last year, I assume they will this year. I've never heard of any catfishing tournaments out there. I haven't fished one of their tournaments in several years so I'm not sure how they work but they use to post info about them on the board by the ramp.

Thanks guys I really appreciate this!

I saw you did a KC area guys tournament at Wilson a few years ago, maybe we could do one of these this summer at doco or somewhere else?  Hopefully they can be team tourneys, for those of use who don't have boats.  ?

Edit:  For those of us who don't have boats.

Well after 5 or so hours of fishing (total this year), I caught my first bass of the year. This guy was super shallow and hit my crappie jig. Not the species I was targeting but I’ll take it.

Anyone fish the BBB this weekend on LOZ?

I know a couple guys that are but I'm not personally. I did it once, that was about enough for me.

Caught a few on Table Rock.  Bonus Trout that I think came out of Dogwood Canyon.  I was fishing close to where it comes out in to Table Rock.

Agreed. That's a pretty stout Rainbow as well. Be a pleasant surprise to pull one of those up while bass fishing.

Went out and got my 3rd fish over 7 for the year on Saturday, 7.24lbs. One of only a handful I've caught over 7 that weren't from the power plant.

@Bluebasser86 This is the part where you tell us where you caught her!  ?

Fantastic Fish!!!

There are some clues that give the exact spot and lake away in the video.

Yeah, it's definitely not a secret spot, but that makes catching one like that even better.

@Bluebasser86 I haven't fished there(I don't think), I've got two guess.  I'll say unless you don't want me to.  How close is a "city" lake?

It's in the city for sure.

I caught a 3 and 4 on that same rip rap last year, around this time. Yours is bigger than both of mine put together. In another month the swan boats will take over that area.

I was gonna guess Clinton or Perry, since they have smallies.  I have no idea a city lake with smallmouth...   Would wyco be considered a city lake???

Well it's Wyandotte COUNTY lake, but I guess some people might consider it a city lake.

I know of 3 city lakes off the top of my head that have smallmouth, not counting Wyco, plus a few more state lakes.

According to google SMP and Lake Lenexa have smallies, but I doubt that, right?  I give up.    Were you on the Missouri or Kansas side of KC?

I don't think Lenexa has them but SMP does. I haven't fished the Missouri side in a couple years now.

Pretty cool that SMP has smallies!  My last guesses are Lake Quivira  or Lake Olathe if they have smallmouth.
