Thanks for the info. I assume that’s enforced for loading and unloading then too?

Fished Stockton today. Took a bit to find fish. Steep rock ledges and of all things a drop-shot finally put fish in the boat. Had one fish on a DT6 secondary point.

Anyone been on LOZ in a few weeks?

If you need help or tips on loading your bass boat without the big motor, msg me and I'll meet you out there and give you a walk-through. It's super easy.

It's not exactly flat sided but it's a small batch balsa crank by Black Canoe Lures.

That's a beautiful little baby flathead.

Got my lures today. What size split rings are you using? #2 hooks?

#2 split rings, a #1 KVD EWG on the back and #2 on the front.

Gardner is still giving up a few fish on jigs and jerkbaits. 39 degrees, ice in the back. Shad are balled up.

I went out there Saturday morning but it was early and the temps were 35-37 everywhere I went. Pretty sure I had a bite on a Ned rig and I think I hooked one for a second on a blade bait but everything I wanted to fish was under ice and I wasn't feeling it so after a couple hours of fighting icy guides I called it a day. Wish I could have fished the evening instead of the morning but anytime you can fish soft water in late December you have to take the chance when you can get it.

I went out just to practice flutter spoons. I don't think I got bit on those but it was impossible to not toss a jig and throw the jerkbait. Also broke my transducer off the trolling motor first thing so I had a hard time staying on the bait.

Hey KC guys, I’m trying to pick a lake in the area that holds a good population of bass that I can make my home lake. Keep in mind I’m on the MO side in Lee’s Summit, so I have Longview, Prarie Lee, BS, Jacomo in my back yard. Last year I fished Blue Springs a lot and had some good days and there are some big hybrids in there as well. Should I branch out? My boat has a 60hp Merc so Jacomo is tough with the hp rule. Any thoughts, ideas are welcome.

Willing to travel a bit, but this is more like day trip type fishing.

I have a lot of friends that seem to do so well at Prairie Lee. I have really been wanting to get out there more and see what's up.

I fish PL a few times a year and that lake will either be really hot, or skunksville. I wonder if I put more time there I’d be more consistent. I’ve had really good pre-spawn/ spawn trips. Really bad late summer/ fall trips.

Jacomo is by far the best of the lakes you listed but that HP restriction is unfortunate for you.  It's good enough I have a separate boat I bought just so I could go out there.

The normal resort we stay at on Table Rock Lake is full this year for our trip. Anyone have suggestions for the Kimberling City area?

I really like Edgewater resort in Aunts... The owners are great and pricing reasonable.  A touch west of KC, but having quick access to KC, the Baxter area, and the James is pretty awesome.

If you're looking for a place with decent wifi keep looking ?

White Wing Resort has been good for me in the past. It is on Indian Point, just down lake from KC. Water front with access to a private boat ramp and slips. They also have a sister property right up the road (White Wing Lodge) that is a little cheaper and has access to the same ramp and slips.

That looks nice.

Ended up at Kings Cove Resort.

Alright, who wants to make a guess when ice out is here in the KC area?

If this warm weather coming is any indication, maybe by March. Should have given the lakes a good chance to clear up finally.

Yeah, I’m planning on March 6, I’m crossing my fingers the marina is ice free.

Haven't posted in a while. Think the last time I got out was October unfortunately. Was hoping to check some community holes this weekend to see if they are thawed out. I use to always drive over the Kansas river on the way home from work to judge how frozen the water is this time of year but haven't been driving to work due to COVID.

Olathe was mostly thawed a few days ago so I'm sure it is by now. It's about as tough a lake as you can find early in the year, but you can't catch them without trying. There's a couple ponds by the lake that I'd fish instead of the lake if I was on the bank.

A bunch of golf course ponds were unfrozen in the Lenexa area.  Shawnee Mission Park is supposed to be mostly unfrozen.  Planning on going out on the boat to Douglas County lake this weekend.
