TinBoatBassin Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 A quick video from Bourbon County Lake, nothing over 2 pounds but the numbers more than made up for it. The warming trend really got the bass fired up. The lake is down almost 10' with the winter draw down, we had to push the boat off the trailer to launch. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 13, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Only had a few hours yesterday on La Cygne in the johnboat with a trolling motor only, but still did pretty good considering how limited I was in area and time. 5 Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted December 20, 2017 Super User Posted December 20, 2017 A few teams busted a huge bag at LaCygne last Sat. Big fish was over 7lbs. I had a single. Worked for it too. But, that was the 3rd time I had fished the lake in 8 years. Still a lot of good fishing out there right now. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 20, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 20, 2017 Fished La Cygne for a few hours Monday and Tuesday, still from a johnboat since Jayhawk seems to be taking their time getting to my boat Monday was much better than Tuesday. Caught a fat one that went right at 4 from a laydown the first 10 minutes of getting there. I lost a big one on a Shine Glide, then caught a bunch of smaller fish on a shakyhead and 1 on a spinnerbait. Tuesday was very slow. I've been launching from the shallow ramp across from the outlet and yesterday I caught one of a spinnerbait right next to the tires before I took out, so I made a cast from the bank before I launched and caught one again. That was the last bass I caught for about the next 2 hours. I finally caught a dink on a shakyhead and then caught a few more when I realized they wanted it dragged instead of shaking. Caught another one about 3 out of a laydown on a beaver, a white bass on a jerkbait and one on a trap, then one more on the spinnerbait off the tires before I left. Probably about a dozen fish total Tuesday. Water along the rock wall went from 62 Monday, to 57 Tuesday, apparently that will make the bite tough 3 Quote
matthew3 Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Anyone have any recent info or advice on La Cygne? Heading out there this week. Quote
SuperVehicle001 Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Anyone know if there is still open water for a kayak to get into on the Missouri side? I just got some new gear and tackle for Christmas and I want to wet a line. Hoping that Watkins Mill hasn't frozen over yet. If it has, is there an area in La Cynge worth trying out in my Hobie kayak? Quote

You can fish the rock wall west of the outlet and catch fish at times, just make sure it's a light wind forecast and don't go on weekends, especially if the weather is nice. 1 hour ago, SuperVehicle001 said: Anyone know if there is still open water for a kayak to get into on the Missouri side? Unfortunately I don't have a choice. My first outing is going to be this Saturday. A friend has a boat and we are going to fish it. Any bodies of water around here still have open water or are any iced over enough to fish? The small lake near my office is iced over pretty good. Quote

Lincoln Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I have to make it out to La Cygne sometime, it and Wolf Creek are on my list for this winter if I get done with my boat project in time Quote

TinBoatBassin Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 We went to wolf today since we figured La Cygne would be a zoo after Blue posted those giants The lake is still way down, 2 feet deep from the ramp out to where the old no wake buoy was before it was blown away last summer. Fishing was decent, jerk baits were the best producing lure. 5 Quote
BassinR83 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Was it hard to launch at wolf being low like that? Quote

SuperVehicle001 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 This is my first time waiting for ice to melt. How many days of 50ish weather until I can launch a kayak on lakes like Watkins Mill and Lake Lenexa? I've not been out to either yet to check. Quote

It’s going to be a while, especially with another shot of cold weather. Ice was 8” in some areas around town. That’ll take more than a week or so to clear up. Quote

I've heard from 5 to 10 inches of ice on the local lakes. You'll need probably 2 weeks of warm weather Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 10, 2018 Global Moderator Posted January 10, 2018 La Cygne was good again Monday/Tuesday. Had a short trip Monday that only produced 2 fish, but there were 5.92 and 3.88 pounds. Tuesday was a better numbers day, with several in the 3lb range, and one over 5. 6 Quote

Taking my kayak to La Cygne this Friday and Monday. Not sure about Saturday/Sunday. Might be too much wind. Was supposed to go last weekend but the friend of a friend with the boat flaked out on us. Lincoln Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I had some time to kill before work today so I went to Academy in Topeka to have a look around and I noticed that a bunch of rods were on sale, I saw abu vendettas, duckett ghosts, ethos, tourney pros, and I think the shimano clarus too. I just figured I’d let everyone know in case anyone was looking 1 Quote
