TinBoatBassin Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 We fished Shawnee for a few hours today, got on the water mid morning. I started off throwing a jerk and didn't put it down until we left. Tubes and turds also produced some nice fish. The bass were holding on specific breaks and once we dialed in you could rinse and repeat around the lake. Water was 49 Quote
matthew3 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 This could be a stupid question...but is Lake Shawnee the same as Shawnee Mission Park Lake?...because my experience at SMP has not been great. Quote
Lincoln Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 No it’s a different lake, Lake Shawnee is in Topeka 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 22, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 22, 2017 Lake Shawnee but SMP has actually been fishing pretty good the last couple years. Quote

matthew3 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Anyone know why the la cygne plant isn’t pumping out warm water? Quote

TinBoatBassin Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Went out to Wolf on Saturday, fishing was slower than I hoped for. T rigged plastics produced the best. The water level is WAY down right now. From what I heard the pipe/pump feeding the lake is down for maintenance and will stay that way for a few weeks. I bet that most won't be able to launch if the lake drops much more. I was a little worried about backing off the end of the ramp. 1 Quote

The plant will cycle water even when they aren't generating (which is why cool water is flowing). Both units have had limited operation this year due to maintenance, and I'm not sure there will be much warm water running until January. -Jared 1 Quote
Lincoln Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Another successful trip to Lake Shawnee with a jerkbait today. 48-49 degree water temps. I probably caught 10 lm with 2 trout, one FAT 2.5 lb white bass, and a yellow perch mixed in 3 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 29, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 29, 2017 Olathe was really good yesterday. 23 bass, half a dozen wipers, more crappie than any one person really needs to catch, couple bluegill, and a channel cat. One of the bass was crazy thick, 16 3/4" and 3.26 pounds. They were knocking slack in the line on the wart. 3 Quote

I lost like five lures on all that timber. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 30, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 30, 2017 Never heard it called new Olathe but it's the bigger one off Dennis Ave in Olathe. The smaller one is Cedar or Old Olathe right off I35 by Olathe Med. Quote

Do you ever fish on weekends and have an open seat? I would love to come fish with you for a day. Quote

kylek Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Sounds good Clayton. I will have to work on getting one of those days off. Maybe we can set something up in spring sometime. 1 Quote

I fish that lakeall the time and it's bigger than any I've caught there. I put 4 of my friends on their new PB that year, it was pretty cool. I even sort of got a video of the one Fluke has in the picture there. It was a tank and it crushed the bait as soon as it hit the water. 1 Quote
KCFinesse Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I fished LaCygne yesterday afternoon with high hopes of pre-front, full moon, late fall feedbag fish... I was mistaken. I caught one short, but spent all my time south of the outlet. Water temps around the dam were 51-53. I did see quite a few boats up lake- which makes me wonder how much fish activity has changed with one unit coming online. The conditions were good enough that I bet someone figured them out. -Jared Quote

I fished Pleasanton East in the gale force winds Monday and actually caught a bunch of fish, but a majority were dinks to not even big enough to be called dinks. I had 1 exception to that rule in the form of a beautiful 5.53 pound fish on a homemade finesse jig in less than a foot of water in a willow tree. Fished Wolf for a few hours Tuesday morning before getting called off. It was really low and really slow. Dragging plastic was best but also caught them on a spinnerbait, jerkbait, and ned. Lots of my favorite spots are on dry land right now. It could be a long winter if Wolf is off and La Cygne is cold. 2 Quote

I have heard from a couple people, that even when they are generating electricity the discharge was cold. Quote

I'm guessing that has something to do with it but there's only a small sample size of winters since they built it. We still managed to catch fish all last winter and there was at least 3 10 pound fish caught last year. 1 Quote
