Fished Wolf Creek yesterday from about 7:00 - noon.  Caught about 25 whites in the hot water then went for smallies.  Put 24 of them in the boat with the largest a little over 20".  Also had 3 huge crappie, 2 cats and a wiper.  All fish except the whites came on tubes that I made.

What did that 20" smallie weigh?

Sounds light? All the fish over 19" we've had in the boat this year so far have all been well over 3 lbs, but only one over 4# in March.

That's what the scale said (It's an old one).  I tried uploading a picture but the file is to big and I'm not a computer guy.

It's entirely possible that it may have just dumped eggs too. Skinny or not I'm always 100% happy with brown ones over 18 so nice job.

Yea, upgraded my headlights to HID's and now ordered HID fogs. Hoping that enough. Thanks for the replies.

Anyone fish Smithville? I've found some great flats, drop-offs, etc, but keep getting skunked.

That lake will beat you down and frustrate the heck out of you. It fishes small. this is my first year fishing the Thursday night tournaments as a boater and it's very humbling. Don't over think anything out there. The fish will be in the obvious spots. I just snuck into the money (6th place out of 50) last week with 3 fish for 7.80. The tournament runs 6pm-9pm and I only had one fish until 8:30. I can't give up any secrets because I don't have any. The branch side is usually cleaner water than the little platte. If you know how to run north of the bridges I'd start looking around up there.

Well I took this past weekend off to do some fishing on my birthday weekend. Ended up being a stay at home with the family weekend thanks to the beautiful weather. I fished La Cygne on Thursday. The crappie were just stupid, eating everything that touched the water. Never had an issue with crappie like that before, couldn't even get a bait to the bass. I did sneak one decent one on a jerkbait before I got tired of fighting with the crappie and left.

I tried to go to Pleasanton West, which is usually good for a couple nice fish if you only have a short time. I lost a 3 pounder off the pier by the ramp, and that was the closest I got to catching a fish there. I had a really hard bite on a jig, hammered a very solid feeling fish, then it was gone, would have liked to at least see that one.

Friday I decided to explore Clinton for the first time. Conditions were less than ideal, but I was still pretty happy with my results. I missed getting several fish on film because my remote wasn't working and the persistent rain falling.

It's trying really hard to. I haven't caught one LMB over 1.5lb... I know some guys that have fished the Thur night and wanted to this year, but I just can't figure anything out. I fish the branch side. I've been sitting on the sidelines north of the bridge trying to watch guys that know where the main channel is blow by. It's nasty up there. Thanks for your insight. That's about what I hear from everyone.

Had a blast at Wolf yesterday.  Caught 2 hybrids, 20 whites, 13 crappie all in that 15" range.  It is crazy throwing 15" crappie back after having a 2 man limit.  More drum than anyone should ever see in there life.  20 or so smallness with the biggest being in the 16" range.  3 big catfish with this one being the biggest.  We got enough fish for the family fish fry.

Nice Fish Melvern.  Long time reader first time poster.  Any insight to what areas of the lake was working best for the Crappie and Smallies? Baits?  TY in advance

Well, that would ruin all the fun and mystique of finding your own fish.

It's not like i asked for colors and GPS locations.  Just curious on was he using minnows or jigs for crappie or was he using jigs or crank baits for smallies.  Also, near the dam or back in coves..  Didn't request GPS and screenshots.

Last week I spend 3 days down at Table Rock before the big storms hit. While at the resort my trailer was backed into by a car traveling a little too fast.  They hit the spare tire on the side, dented the rim, blew out the valve stem, bent the spare tire holder flattened the square tube on the frame and broke the welds on a cross brace.

The lady that hit me has already filed a claim and I am waiting for their adjuster to come take a look at the trailer.  In the mean time I can not take the boat out the boat out.  I am hoping they total the trailer is totaled, but we shall see.

It is an EZloader trailer for a 2001 Skeeter.  Where do you recommend I take the trailer to be looked at?  Should I take it to a Skeeter dealer?

I would recommend Eagle Trailer here in Lawrence. Good guys. Otherwise I know one or two guys have used Croft as well.

I believe US boat works and Smithville Marine both could work.  However, Croft Trailer has always been willing to work on any trailer I have brought them at a fair price.

Honestly using my New Garmin 93SV's and searching the lake. I am not a highly experienced fisherman, and thought most fish finders required a phd to operate.  These are simple to use and are the main reason we caught most of the fish.  Before I bought these fish finders, if the fish were not on the bank I was not catching them.  Most fish were caught deep.
