Ondrejka Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Glad everyone got scared of the rain that never came this morning and let us have the lake to ourselves until almost 10. Had several brown and green ones between 3.58-3.87 which were the biggest. My biggest brown one was 3.58 but was just touching 18". Lots of footballs today and a few that had to have still been on beds with beat tails from fanning or still dumping. Quality and quantity. Fun day.          4 Quote
KCFinesse Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Fished Mound City between Easter lunch and bring caught slightly off guard by the  storm that pushed through late afternoon. I caught my first few s-waiver fish ever on some of the weed flats, and I also got my biggest bass of the year at 21" that came off 15fow on a brush pile. The deeper brush pile fish were picky at best and getting fish to react took rotating between a carolina rig, power shot, and a ned. Water temp was 64.  -Jared 5 Quote
Budget_Bass Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Well I didn't make it to the Ozarks this weekend, so no report from there... Â Glad to see others were able to get out on some waters and get some. Some good looking fish! Quote

Good looking fish though and those fish really do like swimbaits better than most for some reason. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 18, 2017 Global Moderator Posted April 18, 2017 Nothing real exciting, but a few of the fish I caught at Table Rock at the end of March. Couldn't run the camera hardly at all during the tournament because of the rain. Â 1 Quote
MelvernJM Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Sorry for the late post, but I hit Wolf on Thursday. Â We did well, caught around 20 smallies, 3 walleye, 5 monster crappie, 1 hybrid and 34 white bass. Â Â It was the first time I have ever caught more then one crappie in a row on wolf. Â I caught 3 back to back but then could not catch another. Â I did have to prove Ondrejka wrong and catch one crappie under 12" ? 1 Quote
BradGinKC Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Caught my new PB on La Cygne this weekend at 6lbs 14oz and 22 1/2" (still cant manage to crack 7#). Got her on a sexy shad color bladed jig in about 8 fow. Also caught 5.2lb and 4lb keepers on a ned rig.  Good day overall. Ended up with about 20 fish total, including a few drum and one nice size wiper. The bladed jig caught three or four and the rest came on the Ned. No luck with a black&blue jig, squarebills or lipless crank. I really thought the crankbaits would do well, but no takers. Ned was the winner. Water temp was around 65-66.  8 Quote

I only had 1 bite on a squarebill Thursday and it felt like a good one, but it decided not to come to the boat. I'm just going to pretend it was a drum so I don't feel so bad. 3 Quote

It was definitely a drum! Glad I wasn't the only one who had a slow day with crankbaits. Was beginning to think it was just operator error. Hopefully that bite picks up next time I'm there. I have a new glass cranking rod that I'm itching to put to the test. Quote
awohlwend Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Had a week night tournaments at La Cygne last night. Typical evening at swan. Fished pretty slow but cracked a couple good fish. Biggest was 4.40lbs and was caught on a shaky head 15 min before the end of the tournament. @micahthorlawson caught just about every species in the lake on the ned including a good fish right away in the first spot. Some day well get that lake figured out.    10 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 22, 2017 Global Moderator Posted April 22, 2017 Couldn't catch a big one at X, so I had to do it at Oz 8 Quote
KansasBassin Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Fished at the KSU Big Bass Tourney at Melvern this morning. Cold start with a stiff wind, high 40's, had to feel like 30's as I was under dressed, I know poor planning. Water temps were anywhere from 57 to 61, water was chocolate milk from an inch of rain last night. First period I weighed in one of the only LMB at 2.15 and barely missed $100 by about 2 oz's. Big bass was 3.1. Tough tough day, talking around we probably caught more or as much fish than anyone. We pounded rock transition banks any where off a creek from the bank back to about 20 feet, only thing we got bit or caught on were cranks, color really didn't matter the water was so milky, reds and blues probably the best. We boated 5, lost 3, only took that first LMB to the scales, all the rest were smallies. Great job by KSU, really fun tournament despite the conditions, about 40-50 entries. Despite growing up in KC, first time ever on Melvern. I will be back, great water, easy to get to, big fan.     1 Quote
Ondrejka Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 You'll be a bigger fan when you can fish it under normal Melvern conditions, I promise you. Second year in a row we've gotten dealt a bad hand with lots of rain all at once and pretty much shuts everything down for the rest of the spring and summer. Quote
tyson2925 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I fished Gardner lake Sunday. Lots of fish on beds. Mainly males, the females I did catch showed little or no sign of wear. So I think they are just moving up? All that said it was tough to get bites on moving baits, everything I caught was finesse. Quote
Ondrejka Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Ran a Crappie trip on Clinton yesterday since the spawn is pretty much in full swing, and just like clockwork every year we always come upon some really studly Smallies. We caught probably 5-6 like this, and another 10 Largemouth. Always a nice surprise on these trips. Well, no real surprise me since it happens every spring. But for customers expecting a giant Crappie it's quite the surprise.  2 Quote

We were there Sunday too and got the kids on some crappie. I don't recall seeing any bass on beds but didn't look that hard either. 1 Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 We hit up Wolf on Sunday and it was a solid bite all day long.  Had to stop by the hot water in the morning to get our fill of wiper and whites before heading out into cooler water to target smallies.  Found them just about everywhere we looked, a few spots they were stacked up so thick we both caught them on back to back casts.  It will be hard but next weekend I'm going to try and break my brown fish addiction and head to a small impoundment of water in rural ???? to target some green fish or maybe I'll be at Wolf again feeding the addiction 1 Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted April 25, 2017 Super User Posted April 25, 2017 Anyone win any money at the Bass Bash? Closest we got was a 2.87 fish. 2 Quote

micahthorlawson Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Alright, I need two opinions on some boat issues I am having. First off, I think i need a new fuel line and primer bulb. What brand is the best to replace with? I would like if I could buy locally and not have to wait for shipping.   My second issue @RangerDanger & Keith have already given my some useful info. I previously had a 12/24 V TM system, and it appears that their are 2 positive & 2 negative wires running the length of my boat each to an individual battery in the back with an in-line fuse. (No jumper wire at all).  When I replaced with a 24V only TM I just re-worked the plug. Now the plug is giving me poor connection so I am going to direct wire. When I do so- Is it ok to use something like this-http://www.basspro.com/Trolling-Motor-Connector-Kit-8Gauge/product/12051808141522/ Or should I literally just splice the wires direct. Also, What circuit breaker should I use?   1 Quote

Just had mine replaced when mine was in for maintenance a few weeks ago but I've replaced several with that one over the years on my old boats and it's just fine. 2 Quote
