MXHalofan Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Tested out the 93 today. Side imaging didn't show much cover. Thinking I need to wire it directly to the batt to give it more power. Unless anyone has an idea for me to try. Really loved having the GPS and maps. Super impressed with it overall. In this pic, on the left side were trees laying perpendicular to the shore, they barely show up on SI. Or the right is some interference I think I'm getting from a strake a couple inches from the transducer.  Quote

Be sure that you run power to your cranking battery and I have a fuse on mine as well 1 Quote

I've caught a ton of drum off that bank, that's what I would have been thinking the whole way. Good to hear she's back in the lake, looks like the ol gal was about to pop. 2 Quote

I like 70 ft. to start and you can go up and down from there. Blue seems to be the best color palette for me when side scanning.  Here's a screenshot of a big rockpile I took last week.    5 minutes ago, jeremycnwy said: 10 pound Sunline FC Sniper.  Well the secret is out that you were crankin'! Since you said you caught it on a 704CB with 10 lb. flouro  FIRST. redbirdsfan44 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Went back to the "mill" Sunday and had a few solid bites on a finesse jig and a megabass 110. The fish on the left in the picture had a craw coming out her bung hole after I tossed her in the livewell. All fish were released alive and well pay no attention to the audio on the video ? Good thing you went back and pulled the net out before your first cast, boat flipping a DD on 10 pound line might be a little risky! 2 Quote
MXHalofan Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Yea, I switched to 455khz trying to get better images. Thanks for the tip on blue. And the image  Going to re wire and test tonight Quote

Budget_Bass Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Any of you guys been to lake Olathe this year? I am a bank fisherman and have tried it all. T-rig, spinner, cranks of all kinds, weightless and wacky worms, bladed jigs, you name it I've thrown it. I assumed from the warmer days they'd be back into castings distance, but can't find them. I caught one (small, maybe a pound or so) the week before the cold front a few weeks ago, but nothing since that front. Been a little discouraging getting skunked time after time this year. Wondering if you guys have been catching any, or have spotted them on your electronics. If you have, what part of the lake. I caught the one off the rock wall on the north side of the boat ramp. I assume there would be more coming back up over there, but I've been all around that lake. Maybe they're still too far out after that front? I'd think at least the first group would start coming in by now. Quote

Fish were moving a little slow, but they were shallow. Caught most in 2-5 ft on a bladed jig and slow rolling a spinnerbait. And, as always, I caught a few on a black & blue jig. Good numbers, not much size. I've never fished Olathe from the bank so I'm not sure which parts of the lake you can get to. But I know the dam is accessible, and this time of year you should have some luck along there. I think the city of olathe website has a map with brushpiles that are reachable from the shore. That might give you some targets to throw at. Quote

I knew it would cool down, but thought it might have warmed back up more than it did.  Depending on the weather I'll probably be out there today, along with a few other lakes depending on bites. MXHalofan Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Went down to Truman Lake today. Really loving this 93SV. Side Imaging is much improved after wiring it to the battery instead of the under console power. It's a learning curve, though. I am eager for more time with it.  Seen a couple huge areas filled with fish on sonar, but they weren't biting. Think they were waiting for me to leave.  Quote
KCFinesse Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Fished Douglas with the girlfriend and the dog today and things were a bit slow for that lake. We ended up with 3 dozen, mostly ned and senko fish adjacent to rocks with a few channel swing and jerkbait fish mixed in. Moving baits were a tough sell today. Largest was about 17". WT 51-53. -Jared 1 Quote
Nabes Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 First time poster, long time reader here at Bass Resource.  I've enjoyed this informative thread for quite some time and I've been successful in getting my dad logged in and keeping updated as well.  We've been on the water a few times this spring with decent results so I thought I'd post up some of our experience from yesterdays trip to Coffee.  Arrived early and we were surprised to be the first boat on the water at 7:18 a.m. Reports seemed to be that the bite was slow.  We hit the outlet first and spent about 45 minutes there with with a nice mix of SMB, LMB, and WB.  The WB were the dominant specie while we spent time there they were hitting top water baits very consistently.  Left that area and headed North to find some cooler water (outlet was upper 70's) and my Dad hooked into a very nice LMB but it was lost at the side of the boat. Headed towards the South end of the lake and spent the majority of the rest of the day there catching SMB.  Ended the day with close to 30 combined SMB and LMB being caught on texas rigged worms and craw baits.  The white bass were not counted but they were plentiful and most were in the 15-17" size.  We had a great time.  Water temperature at either end was 55-57'.  The sun finally poked at around 3:00. 4 Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 We were the second boat out behind @Nabes and also headed over to the hot water area just to see if we could find a school of hungry fish.  It didn't take long to find them and we worked the school for about an hour alone before a couple other boats joined in on the action.  After the bite slowed there we headed out into the cooler water and found quite a few willing smallies. Depending on the area we also picked up a decent amount of eyes.  Good day overall.  Hard and soft baits all produced.   3 Quote
SuperFluke Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Well, I fished Table Rock on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tournament days were Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday I fished the KC area and found fish on points eating a 2.8 keitech in smoke shad color. Had a blast catching lots of fish but not a lot of size. My best five went just over 10 lbs.  Sunday I trailered down and fished the Baxter area and found a few in the backs of pockets. Didn't catch as many fish, but caught a bigger one on a jerkbait that went 3.4 lbs. Weighed in at just under 11lbs.  This was my second trip to fish Table Rock, and I enjoyed this one a lot more than my previous trip when I nearly was skunked. Seems like the population is extremely healthy and lots of fish to be caught.  Thanks @Bluebasser86 for taking us all to school (again). 5 Quote
redbirdsfan44 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 So I've got a few reels I'd like to sell and I'd rather sell them local. I figured I'd give this a shot here before I posted on the flea market thread. First one is an Abu Garcia MGXtreme2 8.0:1 RH. I got it with intentions of building a BFS combo and realized that's what spinning stuff is for. I switched out the cork grips with the EVA foam and spooled it with 12lb sunline reaction FC. It's been casted a couple times then I put it back in the box. $325 Second is a RH Shimano Curado 200iHG. Brand new in the box. I got it last week as a gift for helping out a coworker and I just really want something different. $120 Next is an abu Garcia 5601 (lefty) ssc3 ambassador. I used it on a swimbait setup and have upgraded. It's a great swimbait reel for someone just getting into the swimbait game. $55 Last is a Lews Tournament Pro 7.1:1 RH. The reel is in good condition. I took the carbon fiber handle off to put on another reel so it has a daiwa handle on it now. This is the previous model tourney pro and has been used for a couple of seasons but always taken care of. $85 If this is not allowed then remove post and I will post in flea market thread. PM me and I can send pictures. Again I would really like to sell local and not have to ship Quote
