Not a bite further than 1/4 is the way down the lake. We didn't even hardly touch 16". Even bass pass fish were hard to come by. 1 Quote

Most likely it will be high but falling water levels which makes that lake fish about as tough as it can. I'm not near the fisherman as @Bluebasser86 or @Ondrejka but I hope to get out to the 'Vern this weekend and if I do, I will post a report here. If nothing else, I can provide an update on water temperature and clarity. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 4, 2016 Global Moderator Posted October 4, 2016 A few weeks old now, but I finally put together some videos from @SuperFluke and my day on the water. 2 Quote

Like the others said if you want to go catch 18" fish good luck and I don't think that has anything to do with the water level or clarity conditions. I guess everyone is expecting the Melvern from last year, as was I, not sure it's going to get there. 1 Quote

If nothing else, I can provide an update on water temperature and clarity. Water temps were anywhere from 71 at launch to 75 by afternoon. The clarity isn't the problem, it still has a little over a foot of visibility and not muddy, just slightly stained. The problem is the high water level. It's like Clayton said, even if they opened the gates now to drop the level, that in itself is going to shut the fish off, and then you're looking at the time it will take the lake to stabilize when it's through. So I'm not wasting my time there until it settles down, this past weekend was enough for me. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 4, 2016 Global Moderator Posted October 4, 2016 @Bassboy98 if you're in a tournament, I would seriously consider targeting largemouth in the bushes if they haven't dropped the water. Flip something like a lightly weighted baby brush hog and you can always hit a bonus smallie cruising the edges too. Largemouth are much easier to get a quality bite on that lake when it's up. 2 Quote

I will have to try that when I am there next weekend. Sounds like it is going to be a tough trip. Quote

KCFinesse Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I got a free pass to get out this weekend from the girlfriend. I'd like to fish the wind without getting wrecked by it. Southeast looks like the direction to head. The options are- LOZ, table rock, or Pomme. I have fished Pomme quite a bit, TR some around shell knob, and LOZ none. It sounds like Pomme might be a little slow, LOZ is getting a lot of attention between the BBB and the Costa but is still producing, and TR is always a good lake that can turn into a bit of a puzzle. Thoughts? -Jared 2 Quote

It's usually tough this time of year but dad wants to go and we have free lodging there so that's where we're going. Quote

I was a bit apprehensive looking at the wind (still in the 17+ range) the other options were a bit more secluded, but I could see running way up Sons, Birch, Maze etc. being productive with a good chance at a spinnerbait bite. 1 Quote
BradGinKC Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Hello, gentlemen! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to the site, but I've been amazed at the wealth of information on here. And I was thrilled when I discovered there is thread specific for KC-area anglers! I live in Olathe, and I try to get on the water at least once a week (with a wife and a two year old, I do miss a week every once in a while). I'll do my best to be an active contributor. I'll post pictures and reports as often as I can. I'm certainly not as experienced as many other members, but hopefully I can add some value to the site. Brad 6 Quote

Heading there in the Morning got delayed coming out Vegas tonight or would already be there. I am camping down there 3 days straight will report back. 2 weekends ago they were gorging on shad up the rivers. Caught lots of numbers on 1/4 oz spinnerbaits with willow blades. Removed the skirt and put on a Zman swim bait. Good fishing this weekend group! 1 Quote
