That is way cool, I think it would be awesome if you guys really did give it (drum) a try and report back on it.  Maybe if it were as good as some say, it would help control the population a little.

If this gets off the ground bring some over. ?

You know how these things work, someone has to pick a date or it never happens.

Let's try and pick a date. When is your season finale? What about the Thursday, Friday or Saturday following that???

Gonna hit up Waukomis again this weekend. Gonna try a few different tactics/presentations and target deeper structure and offshore suspended fish and see how that works. Might try (more diligently) some swimbaiting too.

I'll discuss off this forum in the Facebook group and create an event.

We did that once before over the winter to iron out details for our weeknight deals, and now we're fishing every two weeks instead of every week.

Add to that a cover photo in the Facebook group gets S/Os riled up and upset...would rather we get ALL THE people together meaning OUR group, which hasn't happened for a long time. Not trying to come off as a D, but it's true.

Melvern was a bit tougher today. Me and a buddy caught probably 40 bass (95% smallmouth) but only one measured 17" and only three others came in between 16" and 17". Most fish were still skinny. The water was a 2-3 feet high and muddy up the last 1/4 of the the creeks but was otherwise ok. Also caught a couple whites, two walters, a channel cat and a carp just under 8 lbs. No drum, though.

Did a mix of night fishing and daytime exploring this past week. My buddy Tony and I fished Bourbon County State Lake in the dark Wednesday night and caught a bunch of largemouth and spots on jigs, plastics, spinnerbaits, and a wobbler. I fished Linn Valley Thursday night, sort of. I had my spotlight and wanted to just see what I could see in the clear water. Lots of bluegill, quite a few drum (a couple that I sight fished despite the spotlight glaring on them), with a splattering of carp and bass. Water was 87.5 and almost all the fish I was marking were out deeper in the clear water. Storms were moving in fast so I was off the water by 2 am. Friday I decided to explore a bit. I took the yak to Blue Mound City Lake. Interesting little place. Seems to be shallow because of the weeds growing nearly to the surface almost throughout the 19 acres, but then I extended my push pole out 10' and almost lost it when it never touched bottom through all the weeds. I wore the fish out with a Pit Boss popped through the weeds and lilly pads and a buzzbait fished over and around the weeds. Nothing very big, but still a lot of fun. Also found a homemade trotline with about a 10lb channel cat and a bass that had been on there so long there was nothing left but it's head and part of a spine, even it's eyes were gone. Got to love poachers man. At least I got a sweet homemade trotline out of the deal and the catfish got it's freedom back.

After a few hours on Blue Mound I hopped over to Garnett South (Crystal Lake). Fished it from the bank for an hour because I knew if I unloaded the yak I would fish too long and not get any sleep. I caught 6, 5 on a wobbler and 1 on a Pit Boss, all very stocky fish in the 2-3 pound range. Big shad were flipping everywhere, so I'm guessing they eat really good in that little lake. I'll be back to try to find one of the 6-7 pounders they always sample out of there.

Fished Milford for the first time with the girlfriend yesterday from dawn to about 5pm-

Between the two of us we probably ended up around 40 smallmouth with a handful of wiper and drum mixed in. We did not get much of a topwater or swim bait bite and most fish came on either a Ned or a shakey head. A handful of the smallies were around 16", but for the most part finding sizable fish was tough.

I traveled quite a bit of the lake from up by the Milford accesses to the dam. The lake looks great, but the boat traffic in the main lake and the algae blooms up lake made things difficult at times. I'll probably be back again in the fall on weekends when the weather around Stockton/Pomme looks unfavorable. WT 79-86

I think the bucket fisherman took them all home when they accidentally caught one trying to catch a stocked catfish and the pressure on that lake is ridiculous.  The first 3 years that lake was open to fishing it was bad ass, unless you don't like catching fish on a spinnerbait or frog.  Anyway sorry to disappoint.

I had several buddies who caught fish over 4 back then.  Late Fall 2014 I saw 2 bass up on the dam that were both over 4.  One had to be over 5.  I have never caught anything even close to 2 pounds there.  @Jake Johnson has seen some big ones in his boat several years ago I believe.

My buddy caught one pushing 5 on his fly rod two years ago now I think...I know they're still in there I'm sure. It is just a cool little spot in general.

I'm sure they're dead by now...deep-fried and eaten years ago I'm guessing. :-(

Good kayak lake if you only have a few hours and live in Lenexa.
