Hoping for a mild wind at loz this weekend

Are you fishing the Mondo tourney this weekend?

I'm glad I decided to work on Veteran's day and take this afternoon off-- man it was pretty out. Fairly slow fishing at the 'Vern, though. I was encouraged by the surface temp-56.5- but only five fish came on fast moving lures-- a smallie each on a squarebill and a Rogue and three whites on a shad rap. Only one smallie came on a tube, as well. I wonder if the crayfish have gone dormant as nothing came on crayfish colors today. The rootbeer/green flake tube that has been a fairly steady producer for me this fall did not fetch even a bite.

The Ned dominated today. I caught around 15 smallies (no real size, though), 3 spots, 4 nice whites and 5 drum (of course) on the Ned. "The Deal" was the best color Ned on the dam while PB & J and Junebug were better out in the lake. I think I'm starting to get a feel for the Ned. I need to get some lighter jig heads, though. It seemed like I was always getting caught in the rocks. For the most part, I was able to banjo them free.

Thought I was going to be stranded up Turkey Creek but a guy in a pontoon boat came trolling up the creek and I was able to wave him down. Of course, once we got to talking, I turned the key to show him how the starter wouldn't engage and it started right up. I went back to the Eisenhower East creek arm and finished out the evening within sight of the boat ramp just in case. I caught two huge drum off that point to the north of the boat ramp at dusk.

I probably won't get out tomorrow, but I may go back to Melvern Sunday morning.

I'm not sharing anything about Melvern this weekend because I'm super secretive and cryptic. Because of our get together next weekend. All I can tell you is this: it was windy.

But what I can share with you is this. Better watch out.

I can confirm that it was indeed windy today. There was only me and one other idiot out on the 'Vern this morning- and they were smarter than me and put in at the marina boat ramp. The ride over to the south shore at dawn wasn't too bad but the ride back was an adventure. It would have been brutal going into the wind.

Of course, when the wind is blowing like this, they won't touch a moving bait. The Ned was the only think working today and it wasn't working all that well. If it weren't for Brian's friends (drum), I would have had a boring day. Three smallies totaling around 4 pounds and four drum going 15+pounds were all I caught in about four hours.

I made an appearance at Lacygne this morning and got to play in the wind as well.

I was back on the trailer and headed home by 8am

Did you go back in the river? That was the best bite for me other than for wipers Thursday. The south/east side was not even an option for me Thursday though.

The legion of idiots, er, diehards grows. I didn't see the Al-doom-acraft out there, but my eyes were so watery I probably missed it.

Wiper and White was all I was looking for, I never left the outlet.

The wind was bad when it was still dark out. I couldn't get casted in the place I needed to be.

Hey Clayton, I don't get email notifications from anything on BR anymore. I haven't changed anything on my end but I don't think I've gotten email notifications for a couple weeks?

Ideas on what may be wrong? It looks like instant email reply is turned on?

I don't get them anymore either. Glenn just did some changes to the site last about the time they stopped so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

14th out of 54. It was tough. Hell, Scanlon barely got in the money at like 9th place.

Apparently we needed to throw A rigs.... never crossed our mind in the 60-63 water temp we had.

Raymond posted a video on Facebook that Jeremy made (dude that got second I think). All he threw the entire GoPro video was an A-Rig. Didn't see a jig once or anything.

Anyone selling a 7' ML or M spinning rod or want to sell one? Preferably XF tip and a split grip, but just want to see what anyone here might have before I go to Dicks and buy another Mojo they are clearancing out.

What are the prices on the Mojos at Dick's? I might be in the market for a spinning rod myself if the price is right.

The one by me has them right now for $79.95. There's even one lonely 6' 8" MXF Rage for 89.99. None of the rods have moved since I talked to the sales guy to see if they had more in the back, so maybe it's fate...

I think Ryan (Cbass12) might have either a Carbonlite or Clarus or something like that.
