conorsixtakc Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 It was a big tougher than it has been yesterday, as we didn't find many bigger fish like I have lately. Numbers were even tough up until about 11am when it really started to turn on. Within the first 15 minutes around 6:45 we were both doubled up a few times on topwater. After the morning lull, we caught fish on swimbaits and tubes. Conor had one over 3# at the boat and went to swing it in before I could get there with the net.......you can guess what happened next Last big fish I'll ever attempt to swing on that lake 1 Quote

Doc-Drew Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 This is a little late but my wife and I were out at Melvern Sunday as well as Brian. We met up with he, DJ and the guys from Joplin when we were all pulling out. It was definitely a less active day but on the bright side, I am pretty sure I found where they release the largemouth in the lake. Between the two of us, in about 2 hours we caught 57 largemouth all in the 6-14" range all on the Ned and all in the same stretch of bank. My wife did lose a largemouth that would have been around 3lbs when it jumped and threw the Ned. I will be back out there this weekend. Hopefully trying to get one worth taking a picture of. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 30, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 30, 2015 I swing most of my BS and other swimbait fish and any others I think that I can get away with. I hate untangling treble hooks from the nets. 4 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 2, 2015 Global Moderator Posted October 2, 2015 If you're scared to lose it don't buy it. It's true because if you worry about losing it you won't fish it right or at all. It's not a magic bullet either, just an effective, fun bait to fish. Quote

Ondrejka Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Split the difference and go to Hillsdale! #2 on the list of 50 things no one has ever said 1 Quote
PA2KS Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 #2 on the list of 50 things no one has ever said Sorry, don't go to Hillsdale! Where does that rank on the list?? Taken good or bad, Hillsdale is putting off fish right now. It is a decent fishery. Can you catch fish on every point like Melvern? No. But if you want a good challenge without driving an hour, fish can be caught there. We weighed a 4.57 last Wednesday in only two hours of fishing. 1 Quote

But if I'm going to Hillsdale it's to Walleye fish and not much else. Quote
