SuperFluke Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Let's run by Blue's place on the way and "borrow" his boat. It needs a proper test drive. Just put your pond hopper on his trailer, and he'll never know the difference. Quote

Ondrejka Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Anybody got an open seat tomorrow? Thinking about taking the day off if I can get out with someone. Considered taking today off, but not in the mood to deal with 20-30mph winds anywhere. May end up taking Friday, though. Quote
Doc-Drew Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hey guys I want to thank you for the suggestions of where to store the boat. We got it figured out. Also, Clayton- When I watched that video of your test drive, I thought to myself, "There is no way that's Clayton. There aren't enough rods in the boat!" 1 Quote

Don't worry, there was about 2 dozen in the rod lockers. 1 Quote
joefish Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Where did you find all that open water/ Quote
Ondrejka Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Where did you find all that open water/ I think he mentioned on Facebook he was at Douglas State Lake. But judging by the Corps ice reports, there is plenty of open water to be had elsewhere too. Quote

sizzlefry Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 That's the Clayton I know! Does it have enough storage for your giant tackle bag? I think the bag was empty in the garage probably for sale soon Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 29, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Where did you find all that open water/ It was Douglas State Lake. Olathe and Gardner are both ice free as well. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 29, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Ahem... SFLs are no wakes. Never heard that one. I've always ran on plane at several state lakes and never had a GW say anything to me. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 29, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 That's the Clayton I know! Does it have enough storage for your giant tackle bag? Yeah it's all inside the storage compartments in the front. There's enough room in them that both the back storage compartments are empty for whoever is riding with me. Quote

Ondrejka Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 So...didn't think I was going to get out yesterday, but by noon I was done with work and went anyway. Clinton is ice-free and wide open, but it was way too rough, so I continued south to Lone Star (which is also wide open as well). Roughest I've ever seen the main lake at LS. Got out and was checked by a CO before I even started the motor. First time since 2013 actually, lol. Ran across the lake to the southeast arm, and to my surprise ol' Mr. Kehde was pulling out. Good to see him out there. Which by the way, Clayton, when he talks about fishing a "shallow mud flat" in his blog at LS, he's definitely talking about that cove, not the homes cove. It was way too shallow for me so I bailed and fished the windblown steep bank to the right of the dam. Stayed out in about 18 feet of water getting my jerk on. Pro Blue KVD was the ticket. Had a window between 3:15-3:45 and boated 6 Lone Star Specials off the same bank in a few passes. Nothing to brag about, but it was fun raising fish deep on a jerkbait in 38 degree water. They were shorts but they are definitely eating, fat little turds. Couldn't pass up the day and glad I got out. 2 Quote

I almost went to Lone Star yesterday, but decided not to because of the wind and only getting 3 hours of sleep the night before. I'm going to take my boat somewhere to get the impeller and spark plugs done on it before it gets nice out, otherwise I have a feeling I'll have to do it right in the middle of the good bite later this spring. Probably look into having a Hot Foot installed too 1 Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 29, 2015 Super User Posted January 29, 2015 Get with Curt he did his and said it was pretty simple Changing the plugs is simple Changing the impeller is not bad Routing the hotfoot cable in a fiberglass boat sucks! 1 Quote

Give me a call when you are done cramming yourselves into crevices to route that cable. I'm sure you both could use a chiropractor 2 Quote
