Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 15, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 15, 2014 Did the weekly Thursday get-together happen last night? How'd it go? Wish I could have made it if but didn't have the time or $ unfortunately (as sad as that sounds   ) This week is supposed to be Saturday morning from 6-noon. I'm not going to make it and not sure who else is going or if it's going to happen or not for that matter. I fished Pleasanton with Jared yesterday and it was really tough. Quote
KC Jedi Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 No surprise, but notice on algae on Kansas lakes:  http://www.kshb.com/news/state/kansas/officials-warn-of-toxic-algae-levels-kansas-lakes  Quote
SuperFluke Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Based on chatter over on another board it looks like the Kansas State Record LM has fallen. 13.29lb fish caught at Clark State Fishing Lake. Fisherman was from OK. Still think there is a 10+ fish or two in La Cygne, but I'm not sure I know where to go to find another 13+ in Kansas. 2 Quote
Ondrejka Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Anyone decided on a lake for next Thursday night? Throwing Lone Star out as a suggestion. After reading the newest Lawrence District KDWP newsletter, Lonestar posted the highest figures in each size class as far as catch rate per hour. Douglas' #s were no surprise...and surprisingly Lake Shawnee was second to Lone Star for catch rate of bass exceeding 15 inches. Â I love fishing Lone Star, and definitely struck gold with that 5# a few weeks ago. Just throwing it out there! 1 Quote

That lake was almost dry just a few years ago too. Having a hard time believing that. 3 Quote
Chris S Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Why is a guy from OK fishing that 300 acre lake in the first place? Quote
pbrussell Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Why is a guy from OK fishing that 300 acre lake in the first place? Well I mean, if the story pans out, he caught a 13 lb state record bass there. That could be one reason why... 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 17, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 17, 2014 Glad to hear most of your gear was returned and the turd is in jail. Definitely one of my worst fears. Couldn't imagine having to start from scratch, nor would I have the financial means to. Don't try it, just take my word for it that it really sucks when all your gear gets stolen. I've lost a boat and all my gear on 2 different occasions, none of it even found.  Glad to hear you got your stuff back Troy, that's a terrible feeling.  Anyone decided on a lake for next Thursday night? Just throwing it out there! I think Lone Star sounds like a great idea, and it's certainly one of the best smaller lakes on the KS side within an hour of KC. I haven't fished it this year but it sounds like it's been fishing well this year.  We'll go from the EAST ramp at 6. I'll run through this again at the ramp but we're going to switch to paper just like the get togethers. They must be a minimum of 12" to measure and we'll go to 5 biggest. I'll have a verification code of sorts that will be assigned to each boat that MUST be in a picture with your fish that are on your card, preferably while they're on the scale and the scale must be a digital scale. I've considered the length/weight conversion charts but the problem I have with that is I'm sure we've all caught very fat fish that weighed more than a fish that was a couple inches longer. If that's something everyone is interested in we could do it, just want to point that out. 1 Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted August 18, 2014 Super User Posted August 18, 2014 I headed to Lacygne this morning but with the fog I decided to just stop at Miami State lake. I figured the fog would keep the dust down. WRONG! I spent more time cleaning the boat than I did fishing With all the vegetation die off the visibility was about 6 inches! I caught 3 fish before I tucked my tale and ran home. 2 Quote
Ondrejka Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Had a pretty good day on Lake Olathe this weekend. I used to cliff jump there in high school but have never fished it. My buddy was fishing a little deeper cover with a big worm and I was pitching up shallow. We both caught some decent fish between 1.5-2.5#, mine all coming on a Texas rigged Havoc fatty craw. I threw just about every creature I had but thats the only one they wanted. Â Â Got off the water with Conorsixtakc yesterday and scratched that Bass Pro itch I've had for a while. Looking forward to Thursday dudes! Quote

Chris S Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Fished Clinton Saturday with sizzlefry, steady bite of smallies on squarebill and the ned rig, last fish of the day was a 4 pound hybrid off the dam on a Rodney. 2 Quote
Enphrared Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Fished Cat Claw lake at J.A.R. on Sunday. Went early morning, did some CRIG worms and flukes for a few hours w/o any bites. My Revo SX started acting up on me (grinding/stiff reeling). Went home, greased it up (again), went back out around 3 and started getting some bites on the super fluke. Ended up pulling in a nice 3 1/4 pounder by a brush pile. First big one I got on the new Pfluger/*** rig. Thing handled pretty smooth. Almost thought I lost it as it ran my line into the logs. Had 6# flouro on and it held in there. Quote

Every one of those was a keeper fish, 18" or longer, and weighed 3 to 4 1/4 pounds  That's why it will be on the Thursday night rotation. 3 Quote
