SuperFluke Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Thinking about LaCygne next Tuesday. Got empty back seat if anyone wants to fish with an old retired guy. PM me if interested. Pm sent Quote
pbrussell Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I used a large GP jig and didn't land anything. On the bright side I'm learning the places not to fish. Tell me where. I've got a tourney out there next weekend Quote
SuperFluke Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Looked at the 10-day forecast, and the boat is definitely coming out of storage this week. It needs a water pump and an oil change, so it's going straight to the shop. Should be ready to go by the weekend of Mar. 22. Man, I can't wait to get back out there. 1 Quote
fknlo Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 That does not sound good. But I really need to get out on the water to shake some cabin fever. Same. I'm gonna drive down to Lake Texoma after I get off work Monday so I can hit the water for a day. Gotta get out of my apartment. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 10, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 10, 2014 Jon and I fished Coffey last Thursday (3/6). Had a 2 hour fog delay and it was still thick when we got the go ahead but we had to stay idle speed and could only go to the outlet (not sure how they would have known but that's where we wanted to go anyways). Main objective was to test some of the new baits since they're in Mondo now. We didn't really tear them up (nobody did) but we still caught plenty to keep it interesting. The fish we caught were slamming the bait and really eating them well. Of all the fish we hooked, only 1 came off and that was while we were waiting for the fog to lift on the bank and I tried to lift it over a dock cable and it got stuck on the cable and flopped off. One of my bigger fish of the day. We caught some nice whites in the outlet but they were absolutely stacked by the bridge on the north end. My daily allowance of 1 jig fish per trip at Coffey County. Another chunky largemouth, no smallies this trip We caught both our limits of crappie from the trees once the outlet got packed, and Jon caught the biggest bass of the day there too. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 10, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 10, 2014 Is power plant down at wolf creek It's down as of last Saturday the 8th and will be down for at least a couple months. The temps at the outlet dropped from 63 while we were there on Thursday the 6th, to 46 by the 9th after they shut the plant down. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 It's down as of last Saturday the 8th and will be down for at least a couple months. The guards told us on the way in that no one has been catching anything They were right Quote
cryodenk Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 guess I will fish cygne on saturday. our other lakes opening up in the area after the warm past couple of days Quote
sizzlefry Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I caught a big crappie and a few whites 30 minutes before we had to go of course. today at wolf creek Quote
SuperFluke Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 @joefish and I hit up La Cygne today from 9:00 to 3:00. Thanks for letting me tag along...was a good time. Good smoke from the stack pulling in, so we were hoping that was a good sign. Final score: @joefish - 1 bass @superfluke - 2 bass (1 drum, 1 crappie, 1 white) Yeah, baby! We killed 'em! Started at the hot water outlet. Water temps in the mid 60s there. Snagged a white and that was it. Fished north of the outlet and up the river, which is where all our fish came from. We caught them all on a $50 Prototype Castastic Super Sexy KVD Live Target Bluegill Banjo Minnow also known as a Ned Rig. Got on a decent drum bite on the rip rap near the end of the day, so there's that. Lots of boats out there, probably 10 trailers when we arrived and 20 when we left. I personally tried all of the following at some point during the day - jerkbait, spinnerbait, chatterbait, jig/pig, tube, 4" worm, fluke, frog, trap, wiggle wart, and squarebill. Not a bite on anything but the Ned. Live bait was producing. Couple guys caught a nice bass right next to us with minnow under a bobber. Also saw two dinks caught on a crappie tube before we switched to the Ned. Good luck, @pbrussel! My only advice would be to stay away from the usual banks north of the outlet. Pic of my best of the day. Ned in less than 5' of water. 2 Quote

Me and about 12 other boats will be there... on top of all the other fisherman who aren't in a tourney. It's gonna be packed. Quote

He has the pictures and descriptions to put them on his website but for now they're just in store. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 14, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 14, 2014 Curt and I did a little prefishing for the trout fishoff next week. Water was ranging from 41-45 degrees by the end of the day. We started pretty slow with only 3 trout in the first couple hours. Curt caught the first one of the day on a Ned. We finally found some in the back of a cove eating spoons. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to fish that spot long as every other boat on the lake anchored within spitting distance of us. We still caught quite a few before we moved on and tried some other spots. I think we only caught one more trout after that off the dam. We did catch a couple bass, a crappie, a bluegill, and a bunch of white bass before we called it a day. Curt kept 7 or 8 trout that weighed a total of 20lbs, so the ones we were getting were nice ones for the most part. I think they'll start eating better by next week when the water warms up and hopefully clears up a little bit. Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 14, 2014 Super User Posted March 14, 2014 PM me that sloppy details of the idiots... i love a laugh!!imaging being able to cast your lure literally on the bank and someone drives (with the big motor) between you and the bank as your fishing it. That happened twice! Or was it 3 times? Quote
